Deontay Wilder vs Joe Frazier

This tells me 1: you actually never watched these fights, or#2 you don't understand how styles
make fights. Let's start with #1 Ali vs Frazier all 3 fights were fought at much faster paces
than we've ever seen Wilder fight. Also the Bonavena and Quarry fights were fought at a
fast pace. If more punches are coming at the fighter, chances are he's going to get hit
cleanly at some point, Quarry was a very good technical fighter who put punches together
extremely well. He wasn't a one punch stalker who walked in without much of a jab,
no real threat of a left hook
#2 The styles of the fighters, Bonavena was extremely awkward, and punched from
unexpected angles was very physical. Wilder fought nothing like him, and was very
predictable. Foreman is possibly the strongest and most physical Heavyweight in
history, and used his great strength to his ultimate advantage. His style was
perfect to offset what Frazier did best, If Foreman fought Frazier a 100 times
he probably wins 95. Does it prove Frazier wasn't a great fighter? Of
course not, it only proved what Foreman was able to do to him was his kryptonite.
Again does Wilder fight in anyway like Foreman? Or did Wilder possess Foreman's
great strength? Tape don't lie, the few times Fury clinched with Wilder, he manhandled
him. Fury is bigger than Foreman, but he doesn't fight with his physicality . Or
have his strength.
Areola Stiverne and Brazele were not pressure fighters, they fought very similar
to Wilder, basically come forward stalkers waiting for an opening to present itself.
Pressure fighters create openings because of their pressure. Some were light
punching dynamo's H.Armstrong, some were heavy handed A.Pryor, J.Frazier
but there is a difference.

 

I think Wilder would have world of difficulty landing his long right hand on Frazier's bobbing head ,and once Frazier gets inside its his fight imo. Wilder would not land a third of the volume of punches Quarry did on Frazier.

 

Tbh I'm quite confident in picking Quarry over Wilder and would be willing to put down a reasonable sum.

This one is interesting. Joe was hard to tag with a straight right and the height differential would have some benefits for him here, since it would be easier for him to get under it.

There's still an awful lot of ground for him to cover to get within range, though, and the question is if Wilder lands his money punch before Joe breaks him down.

 

It's just...Joe just kept getting up against Foreman, and just watch how flush George caught him (over and over).

Deontay would unquestionably knock Joe down..but what happens when he can't finish him?

Joe TKO in 11 or 12. I really like Deontay, he's my favorite fighter today (I find Fury typically boring and kind of goofy, no offense or disrespect to fans). But Frazier was constant. Tyson would have probably stopped Deontay, too.

Rediculous notion that Frazier would have trouble landing one of the most deadly punches of all time on a guy who has no idea how to avoid it other than throwing himself off balance. This cannot be a serious conversation, someone make a gif of the hook Frazier hit Ali with that looked like it would have killed an average man, the body shot included was scary too on its own right. Wilder stumbles back to Alabamba after that combo, and it's just 1.5 seconds of the 15 rounds Ali and Frazier went at it

 

I absolutely question joe going down. He would hava field day with this guy, one counter hook would be enough

Do people forget that Frazier also had the power to make a guy wish he wasn't born, but he also had skill and defence, a chin and excellent evasive moves? Wilder has no jab ffs, dodgy chin, panicks under pressure like a flopping gish out of water

 

Imagine thinking a one-trick pony fighter who blamed his costume, his corner for “spiking” his drink, the Dirrell brothers, the referee (who gave him too much time after each knockdown), claimed an egg weight was put his opponents gloves, blamed an “injury” to his arm, and has defeated exactly ZERO credible opponents has the talent and mental strength to handle Joe Frazier. On top of that, a fighter with no chin, poor stamina, no legs, who was busted up and injured by a relatively light hitting guy in Fury.

Frazier starts slow, so my pick is 2-3 rounds for Frazier. He’d make Wilder cry and quit or he’d just ice him.

Wilder has no ring smarts. He’d just stand there waiting, there’s no way he’d be able to handle Frazier, a guy who wouldn’t go away with one punch. He’d have Wilder on the back foot and break him in no time. Wilder probably wouldn’t land more than one punch if we are being honest. He barely throws any as it is even against crap opponents. Imagine him against an all-time great who wants his blood and soul?

Frazier was more skilled overall, but Wilder has the power to take him out, so it can go either way.
