Ryan O’Hara of Ring Magazine has reported that DAZN is not happy with his recent and potential opponent selection. He also says that they are trying to force him to unify with Andrade over Murata. What are your thought? The way I see they initially made a $500 million commitment to Canelo and GGG for them to have the trilogy on DAZN. Obviously that hasn’t worked out and now their not in the business of handing out blank checks. As much as Andrade bores they would rather GGG fight a guy signed to their platform rather than Murata who’s with ESPN.
Andrade vs Golovkin is a good fight. Golovkin should just take the fight. Golovkin has slowed down but he should still land a big shot. Murata has lost but redeemed himself avenging the defeat. Andrade isn't as boring as these guys like Canelo and Jermall Charlo make out. If Andrade stays on his feet then they might give him the W. Golovkin should unify and then look to fight Jermall Charlo who he'd probably beat easier than Andrade.
Andrade gets way too much stick. Yes he's a bit of an idiot but he seems to be a genuine guy and is clearly a very talented but flawed fighter. It's ironic that he's not getting fights because he's boring but what about all the other boring opponents GGG Canelo and the others fight?
I'd be really interested in Golovkin/Andrade. Other than chasing the Canelo dragon, there's no other legacy fight out there for GGG nor is there one for big money. Just sitting around on his couch waiting for Canelo to come home and service him probably is not going to work.
My thoughts are, fight the best available or call it a day. If Pac can do it, so can GGG. Andrade is a good fight and a challenge, Murata doesn't interest me.
Yeah, it's not like BJS is much more exciting than Andrade, yet many seemed content with that matchup. The point should be this, though: The best fighters in each class should have an obligation to take each other on, regardless of the potential for lack of excitement. In that regard, Golovkin is a universal #1 at 160 and Charlo and Andrade round out #2 and #3. Therefore those two should be his primary options. Now I understand that a promoter has to concern himself with the appeal to fans, but DAZN is paying the bills here and fans will be intrigued by this.
Jermallo and Boo Boo should be fighting each other and Clenelo should stop running from the third installment of the trilogy with a senior citizen who his judges robbed twice. That's the fight DAZN have wanted for ages but Clenelo decided to try and clean out a graveyard a weight division North whilst conveniently avoiding the only legit threat in it. He aged out GGG before he would dare pop his head out of the coop for the first fight for goodness sake and then after his judges robbed that old and ancient in ring years GGG blind he went and jacked himself with industrial amounts of PEDs for the rematch because he knew that his weight, youth, and stacked deck of three judges in the bag still wouldn't be enough to get him over the finish line fair and square against even that OAP version of GGG and he's been running ever since his judges predictably robbed GGG again and is trying to age decrepit senior citizen out even even more before he dares step back in there with them. Shameful with a capital S.
Eddie Hearn has mentioned a few times that if GGG is serious why wait until new year to fight Murata which although big in Japan and a nice payday does nothing for viewers for DAZN outside Asia. Hearn mentioned why not fight Andrade or Eubank jr in August then fight Murata. Think the issue seems to be politics. Tom Loefler is still guiding GGG whereas Hearn just want him to fight and get some hype behind a trilogy with Canelo
Andrade is a good fight. I really don't see the problem there. If Triple G has 3 fights left, Murata, Andrade and Charlo. If he beats those to unify, he cements his legacy as an ATG imo.
I don't blame GGG. At this point, chase the money. Murata is a top 10 middleweight (in a not-too-terribly impressive middleweight division, but top 10 nevertheless) who is a puncher, is fun to watch, and brings a large-paying audience to help contribute to the success of whatever event he fights on. GGG vs Murata in New York with a sizable Japanese contingent will be money. Any money brought to an Andrade fight will come from GGG, meaning financially he gets whatever he would fighting literally anyone else. Andrade has also done himself no favors by only ever stepping up in competition once (there are other quality middleweights out there besides Charlo, GGG, and Canelo...not many but they're there); the last memory we have of Andrade is him getting verbally humiliated by Canelo. The only benefit to GGG is getting the WBO belt, and as he's fast approaching 40 that just may not be his best interest now.
Murata is signed to ESPN and at his age it’s very possible he could lose to Charlo, Andrade and Murata. If you’re DAZN you would rather him lose to a guy you have signed that way you can promote him better rather than have ESPN promote Murata as the only man to legit defeat GGG..
