That's my prediction amd I fully expect him to. He's the real deal, an elite all rounder. Looked brilliant in every fight at the European qualifiers
Yes he should, all depends on the draw obviously though, but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t. Ben Whitaker and Lauren Price can also win gold (La Cruz has moved up to Heavyweight). Peter Mcgrail, Galal Yafai, Frazer Clarke and Caroline Dubois all have potential to medal.
Agree with those three picks for gold. I fully expect McCormack and Whittaker to make some real noise in the pro game too. So much talent and discipline so they should go far
He should take at least bronze, I don't want to resoundingly say he's a gold. He looks extremely polished, but Zamkovoi started to outbox him in my eyes and I could've seen a SD, and Okazawa will be at home field, and he also fought Pat very close and many fans thought he was robbed. Iglesias has also beaten Pat and may have the skillset to do so. Love McCormack, class fighter and definitely my favorite for it in welter. Whittaker however, has some latent chin issues, and many thought Plantic beat him at qualifies (Fight Site said they actually had him winning). Lopez, Nurdauletov, and Ruzmetov can all beat him, especially if they force him to lead, or take the fight to him (Which the Central Asians will) he does not react very well to pressure and he doesn't seem to have much power, although he has grown in his "pop" since Khyzniak demolished him.
Whittaker was getting lit up in sparring a while back by the number 2 at gb at his weight. Remember being told about it
I hope he does get the gold but in the last tournament he was very lucky to get the decision he got....
Amateur boxing, anything can happen. Cuts, injuries, who peaks at the right time and most importantly the draw! Wish him and the GB squad the best of luck.
Yep I think Pat Mccormack - Gold, Peter McGrail - silver And all the other from the mens squad apart from Cheavon Clarke have a chance for Bronze
