Odd timing for the stoppage, 10 seconds earlier no one would have complained, but he stopped it as Cordova was firing back...

Cordova should have taken a knee there.

I don’t think he was with it enough to think to though.

Referee was left with no choice but to stop it

You could arguably have seen Córdova up on your scorecard as of the stoppage (48-47; personally I had that exact score but for Martínez) but he got destroyed in that sixth. Impressive that he pushed the champ as hard as he did in rounds 1-4, but it soon became apparent he didn't have a championship distance length of competing at this level in him.

What this might do for Martínez is draw out his peers for unification bouts, as I could see Artem Dalakian, Junto Nakatani or Sunny Edwards thinking he came away looking surprisingly mortal tonight - but I still think he'd smash the lot.

Fast Car Eddie in the ring, saying he might indulge some unification talks but it doesn't sound like the plan is to keep Martínez at 112lbs for too long, so the clock might be ticking on that, and if the other belt holders don't cooperate the locomotive could leave the station. He wants that super fly money, going after JFE and Chocolatito.

Wait, the British commentator on DAZN (Chris something) just made that exact point on the air! They must have an intern reading my RBR threads standing by with figurative dogwalker poop bags to scoop up any pearls of wisdom dropped in here, as I've long suspected. Hi guys!

Chris lloyd is really fast becoming one of the best commentators in boxing. He’s a real student of the game and makes a lot of valid points

Martinez v Cordova was a cracking fight and being selfish, the stoppage was timed perfectly as on the other channel here in the UK (SKY), Lomachenko was just entering the ring.

I then bloody fell asleep in the 6th, good job I recorded the fight for this very situation. :D

Going back to the original fight, for such a very low KO output, I thought that Cordova was very very game. Bravo!!

He speaks well and makes good observations from the little ive seen/heard of him.

But standing there with his hands in his pockets in the post fight debrief is just plain unprofessional.

Three whole days and we only get 2/3 of the official tabulations?

    time: 1:00 | referee: Frank Garza | Omar Mintun | Raymundo Perez 49-46 | Cory A Santos 50-45
World Boxing Council World Fly Title

Honestly that is stranger than getting none. What, did Omar lose his?
