I believe Benton had a huge huge influence on the Mayweather system but the Mayweather's being who they are would never admit to it.

 

I'd argue that Joe Louis and his organised approach, his balance, his emphasis of fighting off the jab, was one of the prototypes of a modern fighter.

 

and Holman Williams is credited for developing Louis' jab

 

Nacho Beristain said that he was almost out of boxing until getting a break and working with Vicente Saldivar. That was a great inspiration for him to work with Saldivar at a young age. Nacho’s methods came from the Cuban and Soviet teams however. He studied them and traveled to see them up close.

 

I wonder where the origins of the Philly Shell stance came from. From what I’ve seen, it started to become prevalent in the 40s with guys like Charles, Burley, Moore etc.

 

I've seen Fitzsimmons' stance referred to has 'The Crouching Crab', which I suppose could be argued as the place where it started to form.
