lmao yeah the best defensive fighter in the last fifty years wouldn’t be easy to land on. Mayweather was low out put by the way because he could be he also landed at a much higher rate then the average great fighter. I get it Hearns was great but there were other great fighters too. and as much as I love Ali he wasn’t to nice to the ladies either
The De La Hoya fight is the reality check that you need. Oscar: A great fighter, but one who was faded and who’d been inactive over a period of 3 years. Height: 5’11 Reach: 73” Result: A hard fought win for Floyd, after having had a technical fight which was fought at a slow pace. It was close until he pulled away in the final 3 rounds. He had a lot of trouble with Oscar’s jab. Thomas Hearns: A great fighter who’d have been in his prime, who possessed a laser like jab, great technical boxing skills and huge power. Height: 6’1 Reach: 78” Oscar was the biggest and most technically gifted fighter that Floyd fought. Floyd struggled and only pulled away after Oscar gassed. On what planet would Floyd have beaten a bigger, more powerful, prime and superior fighter in Thomas Hearns?? You need to watch these types fights instead of employing your comic book mentality.
You are a complete cretin. Hearns isn't even my top 20 of all time. So your implication that I only rate him as great is moronic. And yes Hearns would find it quite easy to land on your hero. For the billionth time, Mayweather's style of defence wouldn't work against taller and rangier boxers like Hearns.
Great post !! I don't see the shoulder roll working either being up against the ropes and at the end of Hearn's range ,,, Pull counter and working either , he's still out of range I have an idea since there is so much confusion here ... Let's let the Great Robert Montgomery Knight sum up Floyds boxing career .. He does it in his first comment here , and then in the second comment he describes the boxing knowledge of the Mayweather fans , maybe this will stop the trolling This content is protected
Oscar didn’t land ONE meaningful punch that whole fight. The rounds he won was off pointless aggression. Believe me I was screaming for Oscar to win. In reality it wasn’t a close fight at all
He made short work of Diego Corrales who was almost 6', had longer reach, crushing KO power and above average boxing skills....and Floyd put on a clinic. Not saying Chico is on Hearns level, but at least we've seen Floyd in against the type of opponent you say he never faced, so at least we have an idea how he might hold up against Hearns... Again, who did Hearns ever face with the timing and defensive abilities asFloyd?
Corrales was weight-drained and wasn't in the same league as Hearns in any way, shape, or form. Next.
Do you not understand that if Hearns had’ve pressed him, that Floyd would have covered up and fought extremely defensively? He’d have gone into a shell with no punch output. That’s what gave Oscar rounds, when Floyd was just covered up on the ropes and in the corners. Yes, it would have been hard to have landed lots of clean and effective punches on him. But he’d still have taken punches and they would have won Hearns the rounds. Floyd couldn’t have won a decision by fighting defensively. This is what you keep missing. If he had’ve fought offensively, he’d have opened himself up more and being much more vulnerable to Hearns’ huge reach.
I hated Mayweather more then you know. Seems you’re the fan boy here. Apparently no one could have ever fought w Hearns in the history of the division and the best defensive fighter possibly ever was easy to hit. And I’m the fan boy
Sigh. Corrales was 2-3 inches taller. Hearns was 4-5 inches taller. Corrales had a 1 inch reach advantage. Hearns would have a 5 inch reach advantage. Take your time.
