Boxing broadcasting new boys DAZN take the BBC's 'Voice of Boxing' Mike Costello and sign up Maya J

I'll say it's 50-50 that Maya Jama's going to be dating AJ by the end of the summer.
Since the news Matchroom/DAZN deal makes no pretence to objectivity, that can't be a problem.
The new "Posh and Becks" ....

lol you are making out as if being a presenter is a difficult profession. It involves reading an autocue and being a somewhat likeable person.

You can easily train up or give trials to boxing men to take up that position.

I am happy to accept there is some natural talent to it, but it isnt a rare talent. I guarantee if I did trials of 100 ex boxers that I would find 5-10 of them who could do a decent job as a presenter. Do you agree?

It would have the added bonus of having a presenter who is actually interested in the sport and can sometimes step in challenge the commentators when they are talking crap.

You know the issues sometimes with a commentary team just having a way off opinion, that is when it is important to have a presenter who can step in and challenge them.

Gary Linekar does the job well for the BBC as an ex-footballer.

 

The presenter should actually be on screen for 3 minutes or less for boxing. Introduce the show and pass over to ringside. Maybe introduce the pre-made montages to build the main event. That's it.

 

No need for talking heads in the studio all night, or lined up at ringside waiting to answer questions.
No need at all.
Just show the fights and have a decent ringside commentary team that know when to shut up too.

Yep. Been watching a bit of UFC lately and I couldn't even tell you who the presenter is as you don't see them. As soon as one fight ends the next set of ring walks are starting within 5 mins.

 

Why is this news worthy?

 

Matchroom/SKY commentary has been so awful in recent years, it's become a talking point what will happen with Matchroom at DAZN.
It seems Matchroom have a deal where they control production of the broadcast totally now, so it will likely be even worse.
Eddie Hearn apparently has openly declared the new direction will be even more propaganda.

I'm just waiting for the option where we can turn all the sound off except the sounds of the fight and the arena. It would be easy for them to do. But I guess that's a niche market.

 

This on screen 'talent' is just the start of a massive campaign geared towards social media.

Fight Camp last year fired the warning shots, videos of Hearn, Barker, Frank Smith etc on Karaoke all over the show, games of cricket each day and so on.

I'm expecting much the same this year, Alen Babic vs Josh Denzel at a game of Guess Who ending in the Savage eating his game board while Koogs films the brutal scenes.

 

Never heard of Maya Jama in me life till this thread but then i dont watch much telly apart from boxing and documentarys and totally oblivious to most of the social media movers and shakers.

Mike costello decent, bellew to emotional to give any objective anaylsis, always like listening to andy lee.

Should have got Naz on board, give him a big bag of charlie and loads of ale and let him summarise the shows at the end

 

Also not sure about the tidy woman will bring people who wouldnt usually watch angle, got to be bad virgin if you watch a sport your not really into cos the presenters tidy.

Maya Jama is good. She knows her boxing and she is stunning to look at, what's not to like?
