i think maskaev is a good first pick. older, big name (for the HW'S), somewhat dangerous but best days are behind him

He has to fight someone that is a top 10 ranked heavyweight as part of his new TV deal.
Arreola would do but would he come over to London?
I thought Maskaev would have been a good option but that now looks unlikely

He wont fight Danny Williams as they are good friends and I don't think Danny is in the top ten of any rankings anyway.

haye needs to try to rid the division of the golden oldies who are hanging around and get called out for the 'champs' when there are no serious contenders....yup, haye needs to do a tyson..beat up on the last generation.....golotta, briggs, rahmann, mcall.......that would make him a big name to 'casual boxing fans' and ensure big money when he steps in with a klitschko or peter.....well, ya did ask if i was hayes management didnt ya......its all dollars and cents baby......if you aint makin dollars, it aint makin sense.....

    That does make sense.

And I'd much rather see those mentioned rather than Holyfield. It could get real nasty for Evander in there.

For his next HW fight though (not first HW fight!) I'd pick either Briggs or Maskaev.

    Hmmm.

This is not easy, if I was Haye's management, I would let him fight Dominic Guinn first off, he is the gatekeeper of the division ATM.

After Guinn, he would need a name. Rahman, Maskaev, Golota.... any one of these three would be acceptable. In reality, he will probably fight one of these first anyway.

Then I would move him on to Ibragimov/Chagaev/Povetkin level....If it was me I would try and get him a title first (ideally Peter's WBC) and then UNIFY with Wlad. Makes it more of an event then.

    Monte Barret.
His K.O. win over Tye Fields was a blessing.
He deserves a payday for it. + he'd make a great opponent
for David Hayes "official" Debut as a fulltime heavyweight.

    monte barrett.

    barrett has a shaky chin.

    a big mouth.

just come off a 1st rd blowout.

newly top 10 rated with a couple of the sanctioning bodies.

bring him over and blitz him. :yep

yeah he just ticks the boxes.

plus he's in that 220-225 weight bracket.

not too big in other words.

Does Haye really want to be targeting smaller HWs though? You would think the best option are lesser skilled larger HWs, to get him ready at least.
