Where was Joe Walcott during the Joe Louis Era ??

    Then why was he able to avenge previous losses and be more consistent in his career?

    If Walcott did not improve, then you would have to conclude that guys like Charley Retzlaff, Tommy Farr, Tony Galento, Lem Franklin and Bob Pastor, would have cleaned house against the top heavyweights of the 1950s, most probably including Rocky Marciano.

    They clearly did a lot better than Walcott in that era.

    Frankly you would have to give guys like Gus Dorazio and Johnny Paycheck a shot at being champion in the 50s, if Walcott did not improve.

    I am prepared to have the debate, but arguing that Walcott did not improve, has massive and far reaching ramifications!
