How many times was JMM dropped? Would you call him a glass jaw?

There are fighters who get dropped and completely went spaghetti legs, usually they end up getting beaten up on ropes ( Kovalev, Khan, Wlad Klitchko and i think sooner or later Haney gonna join the club ). And there are fighters who get up like nothing happened and continue to fight.

Yup, it's all in how strong your legs are when you get up. AJ gets called a glass jaw rightly because every time he gets hurt his legs seem to depart him for a good while.

Felix Savon had crazy power. I can only imagine what he would've done to prime Tyson.

Ali only had one time I can recall where he was hurt from a punch but he recovered well. Against Henry Cooper… he was very young and was playing around and got caught and that’s about it from what I can recall.. he took shots from some of the biggest punchers in boxing history. As for Fury he has a solid chin and the times he was dropped seemed more of a balance issue minus the 12th against wilder, he was hurt but he recovered fast and kept his legs. And wilder is a true power puncher and one of the biggest punchers the division had so your talking about someone who can knock out most anyone at any given time and for Fury to recover like he did says a lot about Fury.

It's the opposite, you can go from a good chin to a shaky one , not from a weak chin to a strong one

Chuck "the Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner knew deep down it was a veteran move.

Blasphemous to even put Fury's name in a sentence with Ali's. Fury has 0 title defenses. Has been floored several times, once by a cruiserweight who wasn't even a hard hitter. And Fury has fought mostly bums for his entire career. Ali fought wars and fought the best of 2 decades. Many of the guys he fought 2 and 3 times, they were hall of fame fighters. Not bums like Seferi and Pianeta. This is a stupid thread

If Fury has a "below average chin" on the grounds that he got dropped twice by haymakers from 210-230 lbs opponents without his legs going then how does Ali have an "iron chin" when he got dropped four times by what are in modern terms featherfisted cruisers/sub-cruisers? When you claim "below average", what is the standard of measurement? Top 1000? Top 100? Top 10? Other champions? The fact that Fury has gone over 30 rounds with the two biggest punchers of his generation and probably of all time without getting KO'd is strong evidence that Fury has, if not an iron chin, then an above average chin by any measure. I don't even think AJ, Wlad or Lewis had "below average" chins and all displayed much more vulnerability than Fury in that department.

Ali's punch resistance noticeably improved when he was 220 lbs compared to 200 lbs, which is logical. Greater shock absorption and harder to knock down. The same applies to Fury at 270 lbs compared to 250 lbs, especially if he's living and training more seriously now than he did in his youth. Neither ever had glass jaws though, fighters with genuine glass jaws get KO'd by big punchers.
