Love Roy but with those heavier skilled punchers he’s gonna have a hard time. At SMW I’m not sure anyone beats him.
Roy's still just outside my top ten all-time (#11). And Rocky is my #5 ATG heavyweight. And Rocky is the only HW in my top 12 that I would consider as a possible win for Roy. But I think Roy would still be the underdog. Rocky was several cuts above John Ruiz.
I'd love to see Roy in the ring with a prime Cincinnati Cobra Ezzard Charles at 175. I see Roy ending up face down in that encounter.
After 12 rounds Walcott was way ahead of Marciano and had completely out boxed him but Marciano wasn't going anywhere . After a great 12th round for Walcott the Rock came out like it was round 2 and demolished Joe. Same thing with Roy Jones in the ring, he'll be way ahead and then he starts clinching and needing a breather, Rocky don't give breathers and scores a vicious KO anywhere from 12-15.
He's not as good as the versions of Walcott and Charles that Marciano faced? Walcott's wheels were falling off, Charles was a .500 fighter the rest of his career.
This fight kinda makes me think it would be similar to JCC vs Meldrick Taylor. Just not sure how it ends.
He's better than them, but not in the classical sense, of skills, but due to his out of this world physical attributes. A prime Roy is nigh on impossible to beat.
There is no unbeatable fighter in historyand Roy is no different. I'd favor quite a few LHWs over Roy, some quite clearly.
