He IS well liked. The contrast between this forum and other forums is fascinating. I post at another large boxing forum where they are completely oblivious to him being disliked.
Just going to repeat what I've said before: People don't hate Canelo because they think he's a bad boxer, people hate Canelo because, every single fight, he always gets the judges' favor. Everyone benefits from gift decisions sometimes, but in Canelo's case, it's every fight. At some point, you have to start asking why Canelo is always so "lucky."
He was Golden Boy/HBO's golden boy back when he was like 19 years old. People dislike the opportunities he has been given and his large fan base from it. It's understandable.
Yeah it's really just a handful of posters trying to troll the board with a GGG defending agenda. They go after Canelo because he's the guy who rocked their world by dethroning GGG. Canelo proved their predictions wrong about what they said would happen when they fought and they're sore losers about it.
Canelo wins decisions because he's better than his opponents, Canelo is better than the average fighter who gets the occasional gift decision, he's better than the B-tier fighters who get the occasional gift decison. Fighters who need gift decisions aren't good enough to win on their own. Canelo gets decision victories because he performs better than his opponent does every time. He performs better than other fighters do, on a consistent basis, and gets rewarded consistently for how well he performs.
Well, it's expected, when everything in Chechnya is invested into combat sports, but still the best mma fighter from Caucasus is Khabib from Dagestan.
