His power is overrated yes but thats because prime Mike Tyson was seen as a demigod and still is. That doesn't mean he wasn't a murderous puncher. Mike Tyson most likely didn't posses raw punching force equal to that of Foreman or Shavers or Klitschko or Wilder but he still punched increadibly hard and he set up some of his shots to where they didn't see those quick shockwave ass punches coming and.... KO. Which is why he was such a more successful and feared knockout artist.

There could be some big guy at your local Walmart who punches harder than Mike Tyson, **** even a gatekeeper like Bert Cooper probably hit harder based on sparring stories and there are likely tons of super heavyweights who hit harder like maybe Riddick Bowe or even bum David Price. Rudduck himself probably hit way harder imo. But Tyson had a FAR better delivery system. It's that simple

Apparently no one has power on this forum. I’ve seen people say everyone from Foreman to Marciano and now Tysons power is overrated. I guess no one has power. If you put down your opponents at over a 60 percent clip and ended your fights on average in less then six rounds you had a lot of power. Period. I think Tyson was under four rounds at around a 78 percent clip ( boxrec took down the percentages)

Having early knockouts does not mean He has better punching power , BUT his punch technique and accuracy are good, people overlook that too much. If you watch Wilder, He doesn't have so many early knockouts but his power in insanely hard. Just Imagine that there's 2 type of guns and people. Guy 1 uses a Shot gun but lack accuracy but Guy 2 uses a regular handgun with high accuracy. Guy 1 takes 6 minutes take chase and kill a guy, Guy 2 took only 2 minutes. Does that explain that the shotgun is weaker ? NO It's the guy's accuracy

Either way a guns powerful no need to micro analyze it. If he has no power even if he was just accurate it wouldn’t KO people. He obviously had a ton of power

Bro do you even understand the point I'm saying ? what I'm trying to say that people with first round knockouts had better accuracy on their punches but of course, they need some decent power to do that. But some boxer had tremendous power but they never scored that much first round knockouts. For example : Julian Jackson & Gerald Mccllelan. C'mon we all can agree that julian punches harder than Mcclellan but yet, Mcclellan has more first round knockouts. These shows that Mcclellan has the abililty to land his punches better than Julian. Some boxer are capable at landing their punches, but they do not possess that type of power. Meaning, a boxer with a lot of first round knockouts possess both ability to land his punches & knockout power.

Of course accuracy, angles, tricks, delivery, style matters but you can have all of those if you don’t have power you won’t do much w it. I think the argument that Tysons power is over rated is wrong. Flat out wrong. I understand what you’re referring to in regards to other fighters but I’m assuming we are talking about Tyson.

    Troll thread.

Incorrect. At his best his technique was excellent and he got great power without throwing from the rafters. He threw compact bombs with lightning speed quite often in combination. One only need look at the hook that sent Berbick to Disneyland.

Yes because everyone had more snap and power than Tyson. Tyson's blend of speed and power is right at the top of the conversation for best ever in a heavyweight. It starts with Tyson and Louis.

So they are less snappy than Tyson yet the criticism is Tyson lacks snap?
