That Cotto gave Canelo a pretty good fight. What if Golovkin had fought Cotto that night in 2015 who would of won ?

Golovkin knocks him out and gets accused of fighting old men, bums and dragging guys up from lower divisions.

If Cotto thought he had a chance he wouldn't have paid nearly a million dollars in step aside money to GGG.

Not a good fight for Cotto, I’ve met him in person and he’s not physically built to compete effectively past 147lbs. Technically speaking his skill set and boxing fluidity would provide some fits for GGG but the size disparity is just too great.

If you look at the fighters that’s considered top MWs in history, you’ll see that their best wins came against fighters who moved up from WW or JMW.

Monzon had Emile Griffith, Jose Napoles, Nino Benvenuti.
    Hagler had Hearns and Duran.
    Hopkins had Oscar and Tito.

So GGG beating Cotto wouldn’t have been no different than his predecessors.

I agree but those comments would fit into the narrative pushed about Golovkin

I too used to have those sentiments but I had to re-educate myself about the MW division after watching the Showtime Doc on the Fab 4. I then realized that this has always been a practice of MWs when there are money fighters in the WW and JMW divisions. Marvin Hagler was openly saying Leonard was ducking him when he was still fighting at WW and there was no push for him to go up to 168.

GGG by murder. Cotto would have to be dragged into the ring and carried out on a stretcher. Moot point, he avoided prime GGG for a reason. He was no dummy.

Cotto was a solid fighter, but GGG would have been too much for him. Can't see anything other than GGG by winning by knock out.

GGG would take 1/4 of the time to do what Margarito did to him in the first fight.

Cotto takes a beating that makes his ghoulish bloody savaging at the hands of Margarito look G rated by comparison.

No, Golovkin would have destroyed Cotto at any point when he was holding the belt hostage.

From 2013-2016 no MW is a favourite to have beaten Golovkin.

The thing is, with GGG it's not really true. Canelo fought far more smaller fighters than Golovkin, which is why it's hypocritical of Canelo fans to push this narrative.
