@Brighton bomber @Puroresu_Fan I don't have a lot of motivation to reply twice so i put it one posting: Fury has never really fought a big name in the UK so statements like "What are you basing that on because Fury has never been big enough in the UK to fill a stadium or sold confirmed PPV numbers even close to what AJ does." are ridiculous. First of all...i'm obviously talking about the UK. Bob Arum wouldn't make a fight in the UK between Fury and Usyk. He's an US promoter. Fury fought in front of 55.000 people against Wlad. There were like 20.000 fans from the UK. If you guys really think Fury couldn't sell 70k against Wilder in the UK then you guys are just in denial. Fury is the #1 Heavyweight in the world. Brits love boxing. Brits love Heavyweight boxing. If Fury fights Wilder or Usyk in the UK i can guarantee you all he could fill out a stadium with ease.
You should try to develop the skillset of READING and UNDERSTANDING other peoples postings. I talked about the Fury vs. Wallin fight as an example as Fury wasn't a title holder back then. I'm obviously talking about title fights and title defenses of Fury after he beat the living crap out of Wilder in the rematch. The Wallin fight was in between. Fury would sell 60k easily even if he fights Ruiz in the UK. 80-90k if he fights Wilder or Usyk. Joshua had great numbers in the UK. But the main reason for that was that UK didn't have any great HWs back then and Joshua was collecting title after title. Now the situation has changed. Fury is the #1. He's the big draw. If he decides to fight in the UK he'll fill out big stadiums easily.
Fury is nowhere near as popular as Joshua in the U.K. I think you are underestimating Joshua’s popularity in the U.K. Sure Fury is popular but Joshua is on another level, people’s grandmothers who know nothing about boxing know who Joshua is, same can’t be said for Fury unfortunately.
I believe AJ can fill stadiums but if he knocked out usyk in 4 rounds I don't think a second fight would draw the same amount of people. I struggle to see why you can't fathom that the demand for a fight when the previous fight was so one sided wouldnt be the same. Let me ask you this. What has Wilder done since the second fight to give any indication the result isn't the same? Why would the masses want to see it again?
The only way fury sells 90k is if he fights Joshua. And the reason for that won’t be to watch Fury. No chance is he selling out a Wembley stadium against a Takam, Povetkin etc and I’ll say it a few ways so you can understand. No chance 0% Nada
The undercard is very good. 3 or 4 good, solid matchups that will be competitive. Kownacki-Helenius and Egbaga (?) -Sanchez may be real barn burners.
You don't know what you're talking about. Very few British fighters could fill out 80K stadiums. When Froch did 80K in the Groves rematch it set an attendance record for British Boxing so prior to Froch nobody, not Lewis, not Bruno, not Hamed or even Hatton did 80K attendance. Only fighter Fury does 80K attendance with is Joshua and Joshua would be the one selling the majority of the tickets not Fury. In terms of popularity of British heavyweights I'd say AJ, Bruno and Cooper were more popular than Fury is now. These guys were mainstream stars in the UK, on national TV all the time, Fury still hasn't crossed over like they have into the mainstream.
FFS 10 people in the camp have COVID that's bonkers, clearly some of them are not vaccinated and clearly protocols have not been followed. Even when Novak "Anti Vaxxer" Djokovic held that tournament with people not following any kind of safety protocols did they get 10 people catching COVID.
Just like a flu in the camp, there should only be a postponement if the fighter contracts the CCP virus and is weakened by it. Hope they can keep it together.
Good news for fury if it gets postponed, he doesn't look in good shape from the footage i've seen, needs more time to get ready. That's assuming he doesn't catch covid himself, which obviously wouldn't be good if he did.
I noticed Fury was coughing in this interview the other day he did with Gareth A. Davies I suspect the Covid was trying to penetrate Fury's immune system but his slick gypsy antibodies were just too slick and fought it off This content is protected
