As much as i've been happy enough getting to watch some of the emerging prospects on Sky FFN undercards, this Friday has some ridiculous mismatches on....

Ajose Olusugen, the 23 - 0, top ten ranked world title hopeful
    Vs
Isaac Quartey, a 4 - 4 fighter coming off an unsuccessful attempt to win the Ghana LWW belt.

Tshifhiwa Munyai, 16 - 0, former commonwealth champ, now wba inter-whatever belt holder and on the fringes of the world scene
    Vs
Osumano Akaba, 10 - 4, another Ghanian who recently got outboxed by Paul Truscott for the featherweight title - I guess this isn't too bad a mismatch if munyai is fighting at a higher weight again where he hasn't looked great in the past.

    and finally...

akaash bhatia, 11 - 0, 25 year old featherweight prospect being brought on against opponents with losing records but looking quite good
    Vs
john vanemmenis, 1 - 3 - 1, 26 year old who made his pro last year

Wouldn't complain too much about Munyai-Akaba, that kid was strong and durable. Munyai should completely outbox him, but he is moving up a weight, so its justifiable.

Less said about the others the better. What is Olusegun doing? Olu? :patsch

Why the hell is Bhatia fighting a ROOKIE? Christ sake, he should be fighting a durable journeyman at least

Great names on the undercard, shame about the matchmaking

Yet again Olusegun is fighting a totally overmatched opponent and yet again we will probably hear 'X(World title holder) is ducking Ajose'

No doubt the guy has talent but if he doesn't get someone above domestic level soon he will be doomed to domestic level forever .

I can only think they are trying to boost Bhatia's KO ratio, make him more marketable

How do you fight a rookie thats been KTFO twice in 4 fights when you are 11-0 :-(

AND Olusegun what in the holy **** is that, even worse. He's supposed to be top British level now.

The funny thing is this kind of match making has robbed us of the area level stuff we should be watching instead of international mis matches. Boxing needs to go back to its grass routes.

Olusegun was the headline act when he fought Nigel Wright but since that performance he has been pushed onto undercards and not matched competitively.

Maloney needs to get him more meaningful fights.

If his career has stagnated in the Uk its time to go to germany or something like that. He can either be Herbie Hide or Peter Oboh... I know who's career i'd rather replicate.

    :good Good shout Jeff.

Area championships should be brought back and shown on the undercard to these fights. Drum up support locally for fighters and then they can face off with each other before going international with hopefully decent opposition!

Got to say that ticket prices for these fights arent exactly reasonable at the moment neither, so area fights in smaller venues would be ideal to get people going to live bouts.

According to boxrec change of opponent for Ajose Olusegun.

Now due to face Mihaita Mutu.

    Record - W23 L13 D2 = 38.

Mutu is a better opponent but still not the opponent a fighter who is in the WBC top 10 should be fighting. Ajose career is a joke at the moment.

Boxing has always had mismatches and probably always will. It has not killed the sport yet and I doubt it ever will.

You cannot blame Sports Network for this one....

Promoters are afraid of matching two 15-0 prospects against each other to determine the better one. Instead they pad their records with bums and get exposed at the top because they haven't been sufficiently tested.

For me, a young unbeaten fighter shouldn't be fighting guys with more losses than wins after his first five fights, area title after 10, British after 15, European after 20, few defences then world shot

Instead you get guys waiting 20odd fights before a British/Commonwealth shot, then straight to world level - or the inter-alphabetty route (which I dispise) and get gifted a world title which can be hidden behind.
