Could it be Jared Anderson or another American heavyweight? Can such a fighter resurrect the heavyweight division and break PPV records? this is what boxing needs to appeal for the future and compete with the UFC.
A good skillful heavyweight with power and a piston like jab. It's not Jared Anderson. I don't think he'll become anything special. The next great heavyweight hasn't come along yet.
If the Tyson Fury sparring rumours are true, then maybe it will be Anderson. I don't like how much weight he's put on though. He's not as big as some other guys In the divison, so he should try to make the most of being a bit smaller and quicker, by staying at around the 233 mark, instead of bulking up. Hrgovic is good. Supposedly he has a good chin, aswell as boxing ability and power. Yoka is also good, and hes faster and not as stiff as Hrgovic, but some say he lacks a strong chin. Dubois is still yet to be really chin checked Joyce is ancient Frank Sanchez is pretty quick and fluid for a heavyweight. But he's 60 so he probably wont be able to accomplish much before his back gives out on him. I like some things I see from Wardley. But he needs to fight with better fundamentals and stop trying to be Roy Jones. I also think his lack of amateur experience will hurt him Gorman is too small and lacking in power. Babic will likely be stopped once he faces a power puncher that doesnt crumble under the pressure The olympian Bakhodir Jalolov impresses me, as does his former opponent Justis Huni. Joseph Parker is the same age as Hrgovic and Yoka, so if he wants he can still be around when those guys make their way to the top of the division, and maybe with some more time working with Andy Lee he'll be rejuvanated. Though he will likely start his decline earlier as he has been in some real tough fights. I don't think Ajagba is as bad as people say, but I haven't been particularly impressed with him under his new trainer and I think he's too slow to become a great champion. Haven't seen enough of Dacres and Fisher. I like Makhmudov. He kind of has an aura of intimidation that remind me a bit of George Foreman/Sonny Liston though obviously not as strong. unfortunately though he's already 32 and his level of opposition has been uninspiring so far. I had high Hopes for Guido Vianello but that performance against Ibeh was poor So if I had to bet my life on it, I'd probably bet on Hrgovic.
Murat Gassiev may not be the next great heavyweight but I believe he is the real dark horse in the division if he gets his arse in gear
I think the best need to face the best. That's all boxing needs to not only compete, but surpass UFC.
Tyson Fury retires after he beats AJ in 2022 Then a comeback in 7 years at 40 years old. Pulls a Goerge Foreman. Everyone watches in awe and horror as a 300 pound caveman decimates the youth.
I think it will be Jared Anderson, but i could easily be wrong. He has much potential to unlock. Stylistically he reminds me of a heavyweight version of Jaron Ennis and he's in his early 20s like Ennis too. He's no better than Joseph Parker right now but I think by the time he's 30 he'll be at his peak and he'll be operating at the elite level. Guys like Filip Hrgovic, Joe Joyce, Sergey Kuzmin, Michael Coffie, Ivan Dychko, Michael Hunter, Makhmudov, etc. These guys are in their late 20s and early-mid 30s already. They'd have to make big moves soon to capture a title or else they wont be able to do anything as they dont have all the time in the world. At the very least 34 year old Usyk is fighting Joshua and provided he beats Joshua and beats him again in a rematch, he could face and potentially beat Fury. Dubois is young and can improve but he's incredibly robotic and his confidence could have taken a huge hit due to that Joyce loss
I really like the look of Jared Anderson, he is very young and still learning and as long as he is dedicated and disciplined he will go all the way in my opinion. Jalolov, Hrgovic and Dubois have sky high potential too.
Well it was meant to be Joshua wasn't it. Olympic Gold, looked the part, had the ambition, unified the titles, became a cross over star in the UK and emerged as a rare thing a boxer companies want to endorse. But then along came Andy Ruiz Jr when he was meant to conquer America. Joshua had the potential he was making rapid improvements but then around the Parker fight I think his progression as a boxer stalled. Sure he came in lighter and with a new more cautious boxer approach vs Ruiz in the rematch but that might work vs much smaller heavies it won't work vs Fury. Maybe Joshua can carve out a great legacy by defying the odds and beating Fury but I don't see it, he hasn't improved enough in recent years for me to think he can beat him. Fury may go down as the great of this era but with his long periods of forced inactivity and his general unstable behaviour I doubt he'll be dominant long enough to be truly seen as a contender as one of the best ever. Maybe I'm wrong and he beats Wilder, then Joshua and then goes undefeated for the next several years, anything is possible with his ability. As for the rest, I don't see anyone outstanding coming up that makes me think, here's the future. Could be Hrgovic, could be Yoka, perhaps Anderson or maybe it's someone we haven't seen yet.
I think the winner AJ vs Usyk will cement themselves as the fighter of era. They will continue to fight the top opposition after and neither Fury or Wilder have any interest in fighting the most talented guys in the division( Fury says that he only has 1 fight left now after Wilder). The likes of Hunter, Hrgovic and Joyce could potentially cause an upset. Out of the younger fighters Ajagba isn't good enough and appears to be another Wilder. I think Dubois and Anderson in 3 or so years could potentially be up there.
