Hey. When I throw a hard punch it feels like my arm will break. Is this a sign of high punching power? Or just the way I throw my punch? This is during shadow boxing by the way so I'm not even hitting a bag or anyone. I understand breaking your hand or wrist is normal because they are closer to the hit and absorb it all (I didn't say it was normal to break anything but when it happens it is mostly the hands and wrists. ). But breaking your arm or shoulder is unheard of for me. Also I have a problem when I punch hard my whole body will turn and I will kind of do a 180 almost but I have to stop myself, but i lose my balance in the process and i cant throw hard combinations thus. Should you punch less depending on where you do it and toward other areas harder? sometimes i punch so hard i think theres no way anyone will survive this.

Obviously you just have glass shoulders Work on your shoulder game bro. Honestly I hate to break it to you but…. it’s a proven fact that glass shoulders actually mean a lack of punch power. strengthen the shoulders, increase the power
A young pro fighter from Dallas threw a wild uppercut/hook missed & dislocated his shoulder. His cornerman got it back in place Kid wanted to carry on Doc wouldnt let him lol
I dislocated my right shoulder in the amatuers when my opponent slipped my straight right. It just came straight out of the socket and made an incredibly loud crunching noise like 2 rocks being ground together. The doctor said he'd only ever seen the injury once before from a shotput thrower (shot putter?) The ring side doctor tried to rambo it back in and jacked it bad, now I have a floating piece of bone that snags on occasions now I'm an adult.
Breaking? Do you mean tearing? Like a sharp pain in your shoulder? That’s likely a rotator cuff issue. If you are going off balance after you throw a punch it means you need to strengthen the opposing muscles and get used to catching yourself. You can usually feel it when you punch hard. Use it in sparring and you can gauge how hard you hit in reality.
I was punching my opponent with left hook and he got me before i landed. Something in that getting hit middle of punch ****ed my shoulder I think it take like 4-6 months before it was normal
This thread is pure comedy. “When I shadow box I throw so hard it feels like my arm will break” LMAO.”I punch so hard there is no way anyone can survive it” . I don’t know what is funnier, the thread itself or people responding seriously to the thread.
Last week my friend L (an ex boxer) did this. He is a tradesman and had issues with a developer over quality and withheld payment. The developer sent his younger son to the job site to talk to L. Things got heated and this young guy charged L, L took a step back and threw a straight right, at the very last second he opened his hand so it was more of a slap. The young kid took a knee and was groggy. L's shoulder and traps seized up after. He had to do physio for 2 weeks after still sore because he tried to change trajectory of the punch half way. He was afraid of breaking the kids jaw and ruining his career.
