Although I've always believed Curry's left hook on McCrory was perfection, I have always been a sucker for Frazier's hook on Ellis in their first fight. It lands at 6:48

You know who I saw throw a really nice left hook at the Forum one night was Rafael Ruelas. This was well before he became champion and lost his legs, back when he was developing as a fighter instead of acting like he forgot how to fight.
I don't recall who he was fighting but the left hook was so smooth and effortless. Scored a knockdown and it looked like he just reached out and touched him.

Grey, this is one you'll appreciate. Art Hafey v Rodolfo Moreno at the Olympic. Hafey nails him in the last round at 3:42 of this film. Amazingly, ring commentator Jim Healy misses it and calls it a right hand. But the left hook was absolutely brutal in its finality.

Wow. That guy was a beast. Imagine having that human tank coming after you all night?

Here's another of my favorites. This has to be about the best counter-left hook off the ropes I've seen. Jose Medel against Jesus Pimental. It happens at 29:20

Weirdly, it was Hafey who suffered a brain hemorrhage in this fight, a condition which would ultimately cause his retirement.

Yep. Beautiful punch hitting one granite chin.

In modern times, I loved Trinidad’s hooks that floored Vargas multiple times. Also his display at the end of the first round vs. Joppy. Beautiful and brutal perfect left hooks. His left hook which floored David Reid at the end of round 7 was a gem too. Short, didn’t travel far, but put Reid on the floor and dramatically changed the fight.

I won't call this one a perfect left hook, but in a fun fight between Alfonso Zamora and Eddie 'Motorboat' Logan, the left hook Logan lands at about 25:58 has a profound effect on Zamora. There was a followup right hand but one can see it was the left hook that put Zamora into such disarray. It's funny, I immediately thought of a Warner Bros. type montage of little birds circling Zamora's head.

I’ll throw in Mickey Ward vs. Alfonso Sanchez, one punch body shot KO. Makes me wince just watching it and Sanchez is in complete agony.

Dempsey1234 loved that fight; he posted it here some years ago and, if you were on his daily list for a phone call and boxing talk, you will have talked about it often.
Dempsey1234 was the Ring Magazine California correspondent for 'ringside reports' at the time and was ringside for this fight.
