I can't possibly see how you could watch the historically average to below average lightweights today and think "yep, these guys would give Roberto Duran huge trouble." The skill gap between them and Duran is incomprehensibly wide. And I'm more than sure he could beat a couple of them on the same night.

We're talking about one of the best P4P fighters ever struggling in his best division that isn't historically strong right now? This reminds me the other poster saying that Henry Armstrong wouldn't be able to compete with modern boxers.

I will not debate anyone but Roberto Hands of Stone Duran dominated the lightweight division as World Champion from 1972-1979,he had 12 successful title defenses. He won the title from Ken Buchanan by a TKO 13 on June 26 1972 in Madison Square Garden. Duran defended against the likes of Hector Thompson, Guts Ishimatsu, Esteban De Jesus, Leoncio Ortiz, Vilomar Fernandez, Lightning Ray Lampkin, Lou Bizzaro, and Alvaro Rojas. Duran a former street fighter fought with skill and a mean streak, Joe Frazier once remarked that Duran resembled mass murderer Charles Manson in the ring as he tried to inflict mayhem on his adversaries. Many tried to run from Hands of Stone, Fernandez, and Bizzaro, only to meet with dire consequences, he would cut the ring off, delivering brutal punches to the body, meant to take the stamina away from his opponents. He was trained by Ray Arcel and Freddie Brown during his tenure as champion at 135 lbs. Duran would destroy the likes of Lomachenko, far worse than Lopez did, Duran did not need a Special Nutrition or Modern Training,(Steroids) Debating is for the politicians, no brag just fact.

Duran was arguably the greatest lightweight of all time. He was phenomenal as a lightweight no one could withstand the pressure and intensity that he exerted on his opponent. He would rule todays lightweight Division without much trouble.

I mean I think Duran is the best lightweight of the past 60 years for sure maybe ever so I imagine he'd do well. A focused prepared Duran would maul the **** out of Loma and ko him. Outbox and outwork teo. Hard to tell how good Haney really is and he has the best chance to stink out a decision but even then I think Durans power is too much. Garcia pulls out of the fight. Tank again lot of question marks but he ain't knocking Duran out and he ain't throwing enough punches to decision him.

Frankly I think Durán would beat pretty much everyone between 135-154 today. He’d probably do pretty damn good at 160 too.

LOL Yeah he could have a Greb schedule and stomp everyone In the top ten today in a year. He wouldn't even be a LW today still the point stands he would be a feather who would be coming up to beat everyones @$$ all the way up to MW? SMW? Before someone takes a worn Duran out.
