    Effects of dehydration:
    https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/dehydration-adults

    152lb is 2 lb lighter than 154lb.

    What I'm saying is, 154-152 = 2.

It's mathematics, no way around it.

    Why?

Why did he deliberately cheat JMM on the scales?

Why did he dodge Manny for years and accuse him of taking PEDS, when he took them himself?

Why would he not let Canelo weigh-in at 154?

Why would he not let Maidana wear his preferred gloves?

Why did he retire against an MMA fighter?

    Floyd feared losing his zero.

    He was risk averse.

Nobody is saying that he couldn’t have beaten any version of Canelo, even if they were comparable in weight. He always had the ability to. But he wouldn’t have taken the risk.

If he wouldn’t let a 23 year old inexperienced version of Canelo fight at 154, he was never fighting today’s prime version at that kind of weight.

Again, I don’t think it would have made any difference. Because Canelo lost the fight psychologically, not physically.

He stood off of him and showed him far too much respect.

Oscar was never a pressure fighter, but he took rounds off of Floyd by pressing him and being aggressive.

Canelo wasn’t aggressive and the fight was fought at a slow pace.

The weight made no difference to the outcome.

    However:

Floyd obviously made the C-W in the hope that he’d be affected by it.

Why else would he have demanded it?

It’s hard to turn down that kind of opportunity isn’t it.

Floyd deserves huge criticism for demanding that a fellow JMW champion couldn’t weigh-in at the limit.

They were both champions in the same division.

    It shouldn’t even be allowed.

    It was disgraceful.

Tell us why Floyd enforced it.

Yes Mayweather played chess with his matchmaking thats well known. But provided Canelo and Mayweather were similar weights i wouldn't see what Mayweather would fear. Obviously he'd have Canelo make catch weight just like he did against this Canelo but Canelo even now massively struggles with slick or mobile fighters and is just flatfooted in general and Mayweather would have seen this just like he did before against Trout. It's not a weight problem, it's a styles oneif Canelo ran through Billy Joe Sauders then you'd have a point but he struggled and was getting easliy outboxed in the middle rounds. Canelo did break him down and catch him but its Billy Joe Saunders LOL

Maidana had horsehair gloves. It's known that those gloves are legal but Maidanas specifically didn't have a lot of padding. Thats why.

Mayweather retired multiple times in his Career and fight McGregor as his last fight as a last huge payday. He pretty much started this incredibly annoying trend of random guys getting in the boxing ring.

Im not a Mayweather fan but i just think people claiming that Canelo was green or weight drained are just making excuses. He's improved a lot but even then he was not green and held multiple world titles over 40 fights in

Because they fought in different weight classes. Thats literally what a catchweight is for, you said it yourself. The problem is, Canelo never had trouble making around that weight before this Mayweather fight. He wasn't drained and the catch weight didn't affect his performance. They originally wanted 147 and 150 but in Canelos own words that would have been physically taxing so they bumped it up to 152. Canelo agreed and made weight just fine and even rehydrated on fight night to 165lb. Mayweather was risk adverse as you said yourself but as negotiations went on the catch weight became more reasonable and to the point where it was close to his weight class.

    There's your answer

He didn’t just play chess though did he.

Ray Leonard was a diva. He liked to stack the deck. But he also had huge heart and fought the best.

Yes, Floyd’s style and speed would always have caused Canelo huge issues.

After watching all of Floyd’s BS throughout the years, I know that he wouldn’t fight a prime version of Canelo.

If you disagree, you then have to ask why he did everything that I listed.

He wouldn’t fight Manny in his prime.

He agreed to fight Winky and then pulled out at the last minute.

He wouldn’t have had the confidence to have fought a prime version of Canelo straight up with no stipulations.

He was a JMW champion himself.

The belt that he’d won from Cotto was on the line.

How can you tell a fellow 154 champion that he can’t weigh-in at the limit?

He obviously did it in the hope that he’d struggle.

Mayweather fought at 147-lbs and fought at 154-lbs. Need I remind you that Mayweather was a 154-lb title holder who the previous year fought Cotto at the Full 154-lb limit.

A catchweight is not for reigning Champions to defend a title that they won at the limit at a lower weight. That's what somebody scared does who needs advantages because they aren't good enough or confident enough in their ability.

Floyd fought Oscar at JrMW 6 years before Canelo. He had no reason to ask for 152 unless his intention was to try and drain Canelo (Whether it did or not)

Well it clearly didn't on the night of the fight because Canelo rehydrated to 165lb and didn't look drained on the night of the fight regardless so the excuse holds no weight. Even if that was Mayweathers intention the catchweight didn't drain Canelo. It was Canelo himself who actually proposed the catch weight of 152 if im not mistaken.

Manny winning a vacant JMW title at a C-W was an absolute joke.

It wasn’t Manny’s fault, but how are these things allowed to happen?

How on earth could he have proclaimed to have been the JMW champion?

He shouldn’t have been allowed to fight for Cotto’s WBO belt at a C-W either.

These kinds of things are killing the sport.
