Hagler stayed in fighting shape. That's why his walking around weight was close to his fighting weight. Most greats followed this practice. Mayweather, Pac, Hopkins never ballooned up in between fights. Also, you're assuming Hagler would come in the same weight as he did in the good ol days. I'm sure he would employ the same weight stratagies as Canelo does. Canelo would have a minimal weight advantage if any. Good fight never the less.
Hagler is only 1 inch shorter with a 4 inch reach advantage. Hagler, as I mentioned before, would use the same weight stratagies as Canelo. He may have been able to rehydrate to a higher weight than Canelo on fight night. Your putting all the disadvantages on MH. Canelo would have very little weight advantage over Hagler.

No, Canelo specializes in weight cutting. He rehydrates massively. Hagler was always fairly close to fighting weight and was not a big MW even in his time. Canelo is built like an Abrams tank. Just the eye test can tell who is bigger, and not by a little. Hagler might benefit a little more from having the extra day to rehydrate but not nearly as much as Saul "the human sponge" Alvarez. What would be more fair to Hagler would be to set the fight at 154lb for both of them with the extra day to rehydrate. Canelo was still gassing hard under those rules even though he'd likely still be heavier than MMH on fight night. Hagler I think would be his regular self or possibly even better.
Same. I think it would be more of a technical chessmatch than a bloodbath though. Both these guys respect other fighters that can box and bang a bit.
Canelo's power is something that Hagler has never seen before. Closest thing was probably primetime Tommy Hearns. But we know that Marvelous has one of the best iron chins ever in boxing. With that being said, you say that Canelo is going to be just too big for Hagler. Size is one of those advantages that in many cases it could also be a detrimental disadvantage.

So lets settle the argument by making it Hagler v Canelo under Haglers regime. Both weighing in on day of the fight.....Im taking Hagler to still win...lol
I'd take Hagler too. Canelo cuts so much weight I think he'd be knackered without fully rehydrating. I think that even if Hagler didn't outbox him (and he'd be favoured to, let's be honest) such a version of Canelo would be running on fumes by the halfway point of the fight.
