Look how slow Shield`s pad work is compared to Nunes, Nunes throws better punches than Shields why did Shields call out? This content is protected This content is protected
I disagree, Shield's pad work was more impressive to me, Nunez was throwing arm punches while Shields was using her legs leading to more dynamic and powerful shots. Her punch technique is far better than Nunez at least in terms of boxing.
Well I guess that's where we differ, you might be impressed with speed, me I prefer technique and Nunes is only fast because she's throwing with no weight behind her punches. Though I will add what works in boxing won't necessarily work in MMA. Sitting down on your shots in MMA like a boxer can expose you in ways that wouldn't in boxing.
It's women's boxing, KO's aren't exactly the norm, most female boxers even at the top level don't have a 50% KO ratio. You get the odd exception like Savannah Marshal but the vast majority are feather fisted compared to men.
amanda moves more naturally. shields has better punch mechanics, but nunes seems more fluid. compare how they follow the pad guy around, look at their feet and reactions to the trainers movement. tough to get too much from such a short clip, but they both look impressive for women. i made a statement some years back, that if you give me amanda to train, in 2 years she would dominate any division she chose to compete at in womens boxing. i still believe that, although i would be the weak link in the plan. but i have no doubt a top trainer could make it happen.
The girl in the top video is very much a top down arm puncher. That is probably deliberate because the game she plays also involves kicking and wrestling so your legs have commitments other than punching. But the pad work was not impressive. If for no other reason than throwing a right uppercut from six feet away and by dropping the right hand.
She`d stand up and kick or punch her, she has a far more skille stand up game and there`s no way Claressa could deal with her kicks at all.
I don't think she'd box her but the use of kicks and punches she could beat Shields. Like the kick to the front leg Nunes used on Cyborg, against a boxer who sits down on their shots that front kick could unbalance Shields and leave her open to further attacks. So I don't think the idea of Nunes beating Shields standing up is unrealistic. Boxing isn't MMA even if it's limited to stand up. But on the flip side Shields would beat Nunes in a boxing match, she's got far better boxing skills.
Shield`s doesn`t have better boxing skills and would be destroyed by kicks to the leg or head in the 1st round, no way could she take Nunes`s kicks to the head or body, she`d be destroyed.
Shields is considerably better. Considerably. I should say, I’m talking about punch mechanics. Not the pad drill.
