maybe your right, canelo wouldnt fight unless toney accepted the fight on 6-8 weeks notice, hed need ring size, two judges, his ref, illegal wraps, and tainted beef.

I don't think he's slick, despite showing flashes of slickness. He's good enough defensively, but not what I consider slick. He's so flat footed. The only way I'd consider such a flat footed boxer slick is if he's got prime James Toney type of movement, or Nicolino Locchi. He has his moments.

Actually he didn't wanted to see in the ring any part of Beterbiev ( at least Beterbiev's versions before his last fight, now he looks that is over the hill ) because to ask muslim to fight in Ramadan is the same as to ask hardcore christian to fight in Christmas Night.
Such offers are done in order to get rejected.

If athlete is concerned about his future career, he usually rejects offers with short notice fights.

Kovalev also never wanted any part of Gvozdyk to have in the ring.
With Ward he most likely had agreed to fight with because Ward almost all his pro career was SMW boxer not a LHW boxer.
Ward btw had in the ring vodka Kovalev. Kovalev is very talented boxer, was very hard working and diligent until he turned into vodka Kovalev. Me does not likes to wash notable boxers laundry but it was known even before Ward fights vs Kovalev. I don't think that this is big sin because a lot of boxers loved not only alco, stuff far worse and at least far worse stuff usage : this Kovalev looks that never did.
Looks that big boxing business wanted to get fight Ward vs prime Beterbiev and Ward had retired instead of fighting vs Beterbiev. Smart choice.

Yes, it is truth that Beterbiev had rejected some offers to fight with some boxers, looks that because they were with short time before offered fight should had been done. It is only good sign that athlete takes boxing seriously and doesn't shows up after very short training camp.
This is also good for fans because you wish to see well trained boxers.
