Ability to stay calm, confident In his own abilities. Mentally strong and people under estimate him.
Rocket jab, power, solid chin and a strong huge man.

Lets be honest, not many heavyweights have skills so he has the fundamentals to be a champion In this strange HW scene were currently In.

The comparison I came up with while watching the Takam fight was that Joyce is this era's David Bey. Bey was undefeated and high in the rankings. Like Joyce, he was a big tough guy with unremarkable skills.

If Joyce steps up to the top five, he's easily beaten. Then he'll become a name opponent for the next round of prospects.

Joyce is a machine that just keeps going forward whatever is thrown at or in front of him, takes and ignores the punches while still hitting his opponent.

Any opponent facing him will have to be in shape and ready for 12 full rounds of boxing, Joyce may not have the aesthetic qualities that some seek, however to date he has been very effective, a big old unit with a even bigger gas tank, when opponent is tiring the "Duracell Bunny" Joyce keeps on going.

I do look forward to Joyce facing someone at the top of the rankings, will that stamina, power and skillset stand up under those conditions, we will wait and see.

If (and i am not comparing them) Marciano was able to reach the dizzy heights of the Heavyweight title in no small part because he was tough and had a inexhaustible gas tank then why shouldn't Joyce be stood in good stead, none of those at top of heavyweight tree are going have or if so have much of an advantage, regarding height, reach, power or stamina.

there have always been guys who can fight using their own individual styles and personal tools. like hammed. thats the reason boxing was invented, to overcome these individual peculiarities with a scientific approach. hamed reached higher than joe will, but thats because he had everything joe has, within his own weight, plus a whole lot of other individual attributes joe doesnt have. i always said hamed would get worked against the first master boxer he stepped in the ring with, and he did. it wont take a master boxer to put what joe does in perspective, a guy like ruiz would have a career night against joe.

Good chin, great stamina, and decent boxing brain.

The sort of thudding power that wears you down.

He'll beat most guys, but I dont seen him beating Fury or Joshua.

    He's a complete paradox

    He's fast/slow/athletic/unathletic/stiff/agile/clumsy/graceful

The biggest mistake his opponents and detractors make is they believe what their eyes tell them

Your eyes are lying to you

Joe Joyce is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma and in order to defeat your enemy you have to understand them and what their strengths and weaknesses are but Joyce can turn his weaknesses into strengths and strengths to weaknesses in the blink of an eye like a octopus can change colour and blend in with its surroundings in the blink of an eye. In order to defeat Joyce you have to learn how to run uphill as fast as you can run down and in a race he'll still beat you even though he clocked a slower time.

Even Foreman fought with the chin exposed...so?

He has that style, every fighter has an own style.

    though..until now its winning.

He's got some tools, like his jab and chin. A hard enough hitter is putting him away though. He's too slow and easy to hit. Takam is worn down by now by the way.

He has fast straight punches, his jab is very good and he has a good work rate, AJ didn`t pass the eyetest any better v Takam either.

I'm going to write this before I read the replies. First of all, Joyce is having a good run and at 35 years old he has worked himself into a big payday fight.

Now, looking at his resume and what you called good wins. I'm not arguing they are good wins but when you dig a bit deeper they aren't amazing. However, he can only beat who he they put in front of him, and so far he's doing that at a 100 percent clip.

Takam - Pretty bad stoppage in a fight that could have still went either way, and he's 40.
Dubois - losing on two of three cards and was sort of a freak injury that stopped the fight. Admittedly this fight was still up for grabs.
Jennings - Coming off a TKO loss, but probably Joyce's best performance in a lot of ways.
Stivernne - He's had one win since 2015. He also came in at 277 pounds.

I'm enjoying the career of Joyce. It's like he does a lot of things good, but nothing great. I don't think he's beating Fury or Joshua and I wonder if Wilder is too explosive for him. The WBA has about 38 heavyweight champions so maybe he could take one of those titles though that wouldn't be big money fights. Joyce could fight the winner of Joshua and Usyk and he's number 2 in the WBO rankings but he might fight the Wilder-Fury winner instead.

As long as Wach is not retired, he will have the best chin.
P4P best chin in boxing history.

Come on, you're lying to yourself if you think the Takam fight was going either way, Takam would have been finished by round 9 in every possible timeline.
