This is what I heard through the grapevine; Canelo wanted a backup opponent with the same monetary guarantees in case Plant was injured or fell ill and had to pull out. The PBC side said sure, but only if the same guarantees were given to Plant. Canelo's team balked, and the negotiations fell apart. IF TRUE, I don't think the demand itself is wrong on Canelo's part given...recent events. It's not giving the same consideration to Plant that's a little...iffy.
Who will plant need to fight to get 10 million? If Plant got ill, there is charlo, benevidez ect that will be there for Canelo to fight im sure. Doesnt seem sketchy since Canelo will still be fighting for the PBC banner on a Major PPV on mexican independence day which will still generate big buys and revenue for PBC.
Which is beyond stupid on team Plant. If Plant can make a guaranteed 10 million fighting anyone else he would have already. If for some reason fight is called of due to injury or illness by Canelo there is no one else they can put against Plant to gaurantee that purse. Canelo on the other hand can't fight about anyone with a pulse and it would sell.
