Either of the fights are light years better and more competitive than the RJJ malady.

I couldn't agree more Dawson's workrate will be the difference in this fight.
BTW i have no problems with Joe holding on to his old strap if it means a fight with Kelly.

Well it's a bit early for me to be saying this, cos the Pav fight isn't signed yet, but I'll enjoy saying it again and again...

    Exactly.

There is just no pleasing some ****s.
All I heard when Joe choose to fight RJJ was how scared he was of facing a real threat in Pavlik, now he`s says he wants Pavlik after Roy & these ****in clowns start their same **** with this dawson dickhead & that bum that Hopkins shutout for 12 & floored... Tarver.

I GUARANTEE.... That if Joe had says he is staying at 175 to fight, people would be saying he`s scared of Pavlik blah blah blah.

Give Calzaghe a ****in break, he`s 36 yrs old & been a WC for more than a decade & he is STILL trying to give the fans the fights they want, he is a true warrior & gentleman (outside the ring) a great boxer, the best Britain ever produced so enjoy while you can & stop your ****in whining.

    Cheers.

    :thumbsup

I hope Pride of Wales is kidding but I'm not sure...

    Joe did hurt him.

Nonetheless, the Pavlik fight means wayyyyy more legacy wise than Dawson.

I can hear the spinsters and revisionists right now:

    'Johnson exposed Dawson'

'Who did he beat anyway? Adamek ha!'

    'He ducked Diaconu!'

Calzaghe is best served seeing how things go both for himself in the Jones fight (I think he himself suspects he is on the slide physically) and also in regards to Pavlik and the rest.

It's a bit silly to hack on Joe and claim he is ducking Dawson or Tarver. I don't think Joe has ever called either guy out, or indicated any interest in fighting either. On the other hand he has called Pavlik out at least a dozen times since last September. Calzaghe lacks the size, strength, and punching power needed to be effective at 175. Moving back down to 168 is a smart move.

I expect Joe to handle todays version of RJJ quite easily. I would venture a guess that after all the flack Joe has taken for making this fight, he probably realizes that legacy wise it was a HUGE mistake. If he fights Pavlik he'll lose his zero, but regain his self respect.

If Calzaghe fights Pavlik, it will be sometime in 09, by that time the Calzaghe-Jones, Pavlik-Williams/Wright?? & Pavlik-Abraham fights will have taken place. If, (I mean when) Pavlik beats Abraham, Pavlik's "worth" will be even higher, which will definitely be the biggest fight for Calzaghe at the time. If they can both stay undefeated long enough to face eachother the fight is going to be HUGE!

dawson tarver winner is meaningless to me. Heck if tarver wins why fight him hopkins destroyed him. even though I feel he got beat by bhop going back and fighting pavlik is more dangerous than another 40 year old like tarver. If he can beat pavlik I'll give him all the credit in the world even if he slaps him to death.
