Something gone off with the Smith brothers and Joe G? Liam and Callum now left, seemed pretty tight before.
It's probably a bit to late for Mcgirt to do anything drastic with smith but it's a fresh start and not having to go full Christian bale machinist to make 168 will benefit him too you would imagine.
Makes sense, gone from one previously overrated trainer to another! I dont get the fuss with buddy Mcgirt
In fairness Smith has the tools, maybe it might take a different trainer, change of scenery, and change of methods might get the best out of Smith consistently. He hasn’t looked good in the last couple.
It was blatantly obvious that Callum was dead at the weight, and this was recently affecting him badly in the ring. Hopefully we will now start to see the best of him, as he won’t have so much weight to lose.
True he has been too big for the weight for a while and it’s probably taken a massive toll out of his body, But it’s been a while since we have even seen him do anything differently in the ring. It’s like since the Groves fight they have decided that’s his perfect style and stopped working on different things to improve his overall variety. I do think a new trainer, fresh ideas and impetus might be just be what is required to give him a run at light heavy.
Callum is fighting Lenin Castillo on the AJ Usyk undercard. Lost decisions to Bivol and Browne in the last few years.
Good fight for him. If he loses, he has no chance of being a world champ. If he wins as i expect, it will be a decent win. If he out does Browme smd Bivol in doing so it will make a statement. If he wins, but not as well, it will be put down down to being first fight at weight, and with a new trainer.
As a few people have said, in a couple of his last fights he didn't appear to be the force we've seen on other occasions and I would put a lot of that down to him some how managing to make super middle. Hopefully we'll see a new a lease of life from him at Light Heavy
