Ah mate, that would have been an impressive return that. Fair play. I thought Dubois was going to win to be honest so I was wrong with that one. Joyce massively impressed me that night.
First fight wasn't the greatest. If this is PPV, needs a solid co-main event IMO. Maybe get Dubois out.
Spot on. Arthur will be more confident in this fight. Seen he lost 2-3 weeks of his training camp for 1st fight as he had covid. Yet he still beat him lol.
I think they are thinking of having Joyce on the same night too as AJ will have fought the night before and Fury is on that night to sort of build up him as the next in line. I think Arthur will win again. As mentioned above he didn’t have a great camp and if I remember correctly he hurt his right hand in the fight (the one time he threw it.) I backed him the first time like twentyman as I feel Yarde is so limited and will struggle against anyone who is a decent boxer. Dec Spelman gave Yarde a hard time before being stopped. I imagine once Yarde loses Frank will be happy to feed him as the B side to anyone, either Buatsi at Matchroom or Callum Johnson.
Yarde will always have a puncher's chance because of his power and size. However, as most have mentioned, Arthur wins through being the better boxer.
Dec Spelman did not give Yarde any trouble at all. Unless trudging forward landing the occasional, non damaging punch, whilst getting bashed about by thudding punches, is giving your opponent problems. Tough fight for both men, but I think if Yarde can actually get the tactics right, I will pick him to win by close points decision. He is basically fighting for his career, and I would expect a performance to recognise that.
I mean, if you can’t see that Spelman put a good shift in against Yarde, landed good shots and was competitive until the very poor stoppage then I can’t help you.
Was a convincing win for Lyndon the first time round with one hand, I’m not surprised Pat was keen on this rematch. Should be a career best payday and a chance to boost his profile beating a ‘big name’ who he’s already got the blueprint to beat. I’m confident Lyndon wins but hopefully it’s in a fan friendly style. Hopefully beat Yarde and then on to beat Buatsi next (which won’t happen but I’m confident he would win).
Lyndon is taller with a better jab (which is not hard to be fair in this case) and is the better schooled, technically more sound fighter. He also has momentum going for him, and will be taking that confidence into the fight. HOWEVER, I would still pick Yarde to win this provided he gets the tactics right. Lyndon Arthur just looks vulnerable to me, I don't think he's a durable fighter and although he is a decent boxer I think that side of his game is being overrated. I think he's predictable, once paced and very beatable. I think Yarde lost last time due to his ego maniac of a coach who got the tactics massively wrong and gave Yarde shockingly misguided instructions in the corner. I'm amazed Tunde is still Yarde's trainer because his performance in the corner really was bizarre. If Yarde fights to his strength's he will stop Lyndon Arthur, and do it without too many problems. He needs to apply pressure from the 1st round. A fighter like Lyndon relies on time and space, he relies on being able to establish a rhythm, and if/when he does he can be hard work. If Yarde is a pressure fighter, cuts the right off, and ups his work rate and punch output he will stop him as Yarde's power is for real. He just needs to panic Lyndon, pressure him and overwhelm him. He won't need more than 5-6 rounds to hurt him if he does that, and once he does it's just a question of patience and picking his moment to finish him off. I suppose it's a question of how many rounds can Anthony Yarde fight, at a consistently high pace? The worrying thing is he can take a while to get going, and when he does he likes to take too many breaks for my liking. Not certain that this is 100% stamina related it could be mental as well i.e. lack of focus but it's a question mark regardless...
Yarde just needs to be busier in the fight and actually do something. He was doing some shoulder rolls and throwing 1 or 2 punches a round then his corner were telling him he’s fighting like Ali ffs. Thing is it’s very hard for things to suddenly just change for a fighter, so I wouldn’t be too confident on a different result but you’re right - he really should be winning easily.
I'm not so sure. He couldn't get past a guy using only the jab and barely pressed the action at all - not sure what he was scared off. Lyndon has never mentioned an injury but I can only assume that was the cause. If he can Yarde at bay with a jab he probably beats him easier this time around.
