Great chin, superb handspeed, huge heart, underrated punching power. No doubts, real warrior.

But when he get hit he always wanted to brawl instead he should've been boxing.

Was that his only great limit?

Or are there others?

 

his defense wasn’t bad but could have been better. Man ate a lot of leather in his day.

 

He kept his left low, really inviting right hands.

 

Not so great power in his hands. But he could still bang.

He could roll it absolutely, but too often he failed. As most do that keep their left low.

 

After he left Benton his defense got worse. Benton had a hard time getting Holy to listen but he was displaying some decent defense at that time. It really dropped off after that. I read Benton really liked working with Holy but getting him to listen wasnt easy

 

His limits were clear in the Bowe fights. He did not have the reach to outjab Bowe, who had a fair jab. But Bowe was also a great infighter. So either way, Holy was screwed.

 

With Bowe he was lighter than with Lewis and Foreman.

 

He went prematurely bald.

 

He could be hit with straight punches often

He did pretty well with those limits in the second match tho.

I'd say his size, his penchant for brawling as you mentioned & he didn't take body shots all that well because of his small waist. Tough tough man though. His sheer bloody mindedness gave us some great moments.
