He competes in a tough division at the moment. He is likely not confident that he can be better than the top guys competing there.
Campbell was coming off an 18 month layoff and a loss when he fought Garcia on away soil He also lost a razor-close SD to a prime Linares on a Golden Boy card in the US two weeks after losing his father to Cancer who passed away while Campbell was over there training for the fight. That version of Linares would knock Haney the beep out Hardly ideal preparation for either there In addition to dropping Garcia hard he also dropped Teofimo in the gym during his time when he was based over in Miami
Wish him all the best. He's a humble, decent guy, who has done a lot in the sport...but just came up short at the very elite level. Still, any boxer who wins an Olympic gold medal has my respect.
People are so desperate for Campbell to be better than he actually is (which is already good) in order to boost their favourite boxers' records.
I know he was an awful professional...but he has my respect as an gold medal winning Olympian...it's not hard. Have you ever won an Olympic medal? Any medal at a major amateur championships? No, then get off your high horse and show the man a bit of respect.
Not all world champs are at the same level, are you telling me Campbell wouldn`t have been a world champ in any previous year or if he was at his peak in the future? There are four different champs at each weight, you`re not always fighting the best in the division to win the title.
