Joyce is stationary and slow as ****. I'd pick Deontay pre-Fury II. He's a much more dynamic fighter and that right is landing. Dubois was landing at will. I don't know Deontay's mental state after he got abused by Fury so not sure about right now. I can see Deontay being the type of guy to turn into a bum if his confidence is shaken.
Indeed... Wilders massively overrated and not a great role model, but even he's more proven than Joyce. This idea that Wilder needs a "hail mary" is laughable - sure, he's gotten out of jail with it more than once, but it's not a hail mary when the guy you're throwing it at is that easy to hit. As limited as Wilder is, Joyce is almost tailor made for him and Joyce hasn't shown enough for me to think he overcomes that disadvantage. It says it all that I think Wilder would take the fight - if Joyce was a real threat to him, he'd duck it as usual.
Wilders power is hugely overrated, it’s good but KOing tomato cans and bum of the month white collar boxers is no way to measure punch power. Joyce would pressure Wilder just as he does everyone he fights and as Fury demonstrated, if you deny Wilder room he can’t fight for tihs! Secondly, Joyce just smiling through anything Wilder lands on him would be the final nail in Wilders fragile ego. Joyce will win by brutal KO in round 5
Joyce's robotic looking style is well thought out, I reckon. He sets up a rhythm that his opponent has to get grooved into then changes pace suddenly and catches them. Joe is underrated IMO.
Those that are thinking he's possibly the hardest puncher ever in heavyweight boxing like some think he is are definitely overrating him. He's hell of a hard puncher, probably the biggest right hand at heavyweight right now, but as you say, what's the best chin he's cracked? Breazeale does have a good chin but Joshua stopped him and Mansour also dropped him. So while his chin is good it's not iron and definitely not as good as Joyce's based on what we've seen. Arreola too has a good chin, Wilder put him down but Arreola survived and retired on his stool rather than being cleanly KO'ed. Also when you consider Stiverne dropped a better version of Arreola with one single right hand and made him do a crazy dance. You could argue Stiverne hits harder than Wilder based on their performances vs Arreola.
Wilder wins by KO in the early rounds. Joyce would absorb a few bravely, but ultimately gets stopped. He's far too slow to avoid that right hand.
If Duhapaus can survive Wilder's punches and an onslaught then Joyce can to. Wilder would break his hand off Joyce's dome. Wilder is finished now anyway after what Fury has done to him. Whyte is who Wilder should fight.
Big "if" though. Regardless of whether Wilders power has been overrated (and it probably has), Joyce is very easy to hit. IMHO both Wilders power and Joyce's chin are massively overrated... Both fighters in general are overrated compared to the levels they've fought at. Joyce was TKO'd several times in the amateurs and although he's improved since, you'd think he was made of granite and impossible to KO if you listened to a lot of guys on here. FWIW I think Joyce is made for Wilder - very slow and very easy to hit... He may have been able to take what Dubois was throwing, but Wilder is another level of power.
