Burns best wins at lightweight are Katsidis and Mitchell and he came up short against Beltran, Crawford and Indongo. You have to consider if these losses are of equal relevance to Lomachenko, Garcia, and Linares and I would say that Campbell gave a better account of himself in those fights. Facts remain though Campbell does not really hold any top level wins.
Getting over the line and actually winning titles is more important than losses against elite fighters. Campbell was unlucky in the era he fought in but I think in comparisons like this you have to judge it on achievements, which Burns is head and shoulders above Campbell.
Rocky Martinez is Burns' best win (and performance) by a distance. You can't give Campbell credit for losing fights he had no chance of winning unless you are on the Sky Sports payroll.
Fight was at Super Feather not Lightweight. I did not give him credit, I stated that he gave a better account of himself than Burns did against elite lightweights which he did.
Campbell would beat all them and comfortably in my opinion. He was forced to do it the hard way and many such as Flanagan and Crolla who would barely get near him are going to die world champs. That’s boxing though sadly. Only found out he’s retired now off this. I’m a bit gutted he was brilliant but in a tough division and obviously wasn’t one of Eddie’s Frochs Bellews and Crollas. Such fine margins as well. He nearly beat a still very good Linares when his dad had just died in another country. If not for the early knockdown. Lomachenko speaks for himself and Luke did very well and won 3/4 rounds in my opinion. Brave performance. I was jumping around the room when bombed that horrible Garcia runt. He maybe should have been braver and tried to kill him off. I think he’s the type of lad who’ll be happy in retirement. Someone who’d do well out of the sport anyway. A down to earth, proper lad who conducts himself well. He also had with a bit of spite when he needed it. Boxing needs more of him.
I'm in the minority but if Mitchell would have had the same dedication as burns he would have been the best of the lot. He never so in order I will go. Burns Crolla Campbell
