Arthur v Gomez, Burns v Mitchell, Macklin v Moore - there were endless great fights on Sky Sports pre Eh Day solo deal.

 

When do we reckon tickets will be on sale for this?

Yep. If I was one of them minimum wage stewards I’d be calling in sick that night. Seen so many great mass brawls in the Echo for the boxing. I remember someone rolling down the stairs from row ZZ to A like something off a film at Price Harrison I think. No police anywhere to be seen, the badged security who are paid more are scarce so it comes down to the normal stewards to step in haha. It’s Not worth the money even if you’re ‘Muhammad I’m had Bruce Lee’. There will be murder at this one. Hangers on and mate’s cousin’s nephew’s cat’s goldfish’s grandad’s driving instructor of both will be mixing right by each other and they’ll feel an overhyped sense of allegiance.
All part of the fun if you’re with mates but not fair if you’re with a girl you’re put in a horrible position.

I think Smith looks in or around as good as he has. Not been active enough mind. Be good to see him get two fights in a shortish period. I think Fowler v Fitzgerald was a high quality fight. I think Fowler is better than some think. He has improved under McGuigan. Expect Smith to dominate 2nd half of fight and to win semi comfy on points or by late stoppage.

 

Fielding Smith was 2 prospects. Coyle Campbell didn’t interest anyone outside Hull. This fight is bigger than both of them.

 

By the final third of the fight I expect Fowler to have run out of ideas, if Fowler goes up to 160 Liam Williams would absolutely batter him.

 

Assuming Smith hasn't turned old and shot overnight then he schools Fowler.

 

I don’t think so. He’s over in America at the minute with his new trainer so I think it would be more likely we see him out on a US show.

Haven't had a domestic fight like this, that I'm excited about, in a while.

One guy I dislike and one guy I have not particularly followed throughout his career but one that I definitely will be rooting for!

I've been fairly critical of the fights since the Dazn move, however, this one is exactly what I wanted from this new deal.

I do think Smith will control the fight and take a clean points win but you can never rule out a McGuigan fighter.

All in all, the sort of fight worth paying a subscription fee for.

 

Great fight, hope there are more like it in the coming up with Matchrooms (supposedly) improved budget.

I don't see this as a foregone conclusion for Liam Smith though. It will be a very tough, grueling 12 round fight, don't see a stoppage here personally. I think Smith will win by 2-3 rounds max, but have a feeling there may be a controversial split decision on the way...
