Frank Bruno admitted to using cocaine (from 2000). He has also struggled with mental health issues sadly, which is common knowledge l believe. Not that this in any way is a slur on his character. Depression & bipolar issues are sadly too prevalent unfortunately.
I heard that he used to beat his wife as well or was it that his wife used to beat him up? It was one of the two.
Patterson made disparaging remarks about the black Muslims and their faith and kept on calling Ali, clay during the 60s. Arguello went into politics and was said to be involved in vote rigging
Ritchie Woodhall always seemed to be a decent role model. Think he is still with his wife after 20 plus years and does a lot for cancer charity. Someone may know something I don’t but I always thought he seemed a standup guy.
I might be wrong but Darren Barker might be worth a shout. I’m sure he stopped some guy getting beaten up and ended up taking a kicking on a night out for the pleasure. I’m pretty sure he’s a family guy with a few children and cant remember any bad controversy that’s been out there about him. Always struck me as a good guy.
If its british boxers we are talking about they don`t come better than Duke McKenzie a great fighter and a gentleman
of course, ali. he was a role model because of his upright, sincere and authentic stance. and he was a philantropist. these are two of the main reasons why he was so loved worldwide, still is ...
Listen as a fighter I loved him but as a man he was: a crackhead . Talked about suicide endlessly. Cheated on his wife. Sold out his country finally and the ultimate selfish act orphaned his kids by suicide.
great list. Would leave Mancini off though. Cheating not tolerated especially when you espouse the valley of the family as yr schtick.
