You could see last night why Warrington wanted to fight Xu Can so badly, but quitting his belt to try and get that fight was ridiculous.

 

The thing with Lee I liked most was his attention to detail. He called for Wood to throw when Xu was throwing. The one time he did it ended the fight. I think his scorecards were slightly in favour of the away fighter too much due worry of been matchroom bias but over did it. Anything without Adam Smith is a massive improvement really

 

How badly managed has he been since leaving Warren?

He is a loss away from retirement

 

Warren did a good job for him. World title fight at Elland Road, massive fight against Frampton and would have earned a few quid against Galahad.

Hearn persuaded him to drop his belt despite being the one lobbying for the Galahad rematch in the first place, now he needs to beat a heavy handed Mexican who’s already KO’d him to save his career.

Just read that there was a rematch clause in the contract for Xu vs. Wood so we might be getting the rematch if Xu wants it.

 

Nah, pretty sure rematch clauses in Matchroom contracts are only for if their fighter loses.

 

Definitely, but what I will say is, Frank failed to get that big American/ Las Vegas fight over the line for him so it’s understandable why he’s changed. Obviously Eddie has failed to deliver also but it was worth a try.

 

There's a rematch clause if Xu chooses to activate it. It was a voluntary defence for Xu so he might have had some demands of his own that were met to get the deal done.

 

Well done to Leigh Wood. Held it together mentally and boxed a great fight. Thoroughly deserved and what an example to other fighters. Well done. You’ve done yourself proud.
