This is the haters paradox. The one variable that you can't change, is the fighters record. That has to be squared with all the other alleged variables.
His record shows only 2 ko losses, 1 of which was when he was old and shopworn against a hall of famer power puncher in 60+ fights. No matter how many excuses you make, numbers dont lie. He couldnt have had a bad chin AND bad recovery AND bad at making adjustments/adapting. I dont care how horrible someone thinks his era was, hed have way more ko losses (especially with this narrative that he relied on power to bail himself out). If we grant such a ridiculous notion the only conclusion left is that either Louis was THE most skilled puncher, one of the hardest punchers of all time, or both. And if thats the case, then youre basically admitting he had a shot at beating virtually any opponent! This is what happens when you keep shifting the goal posts and downplay a fighter's ability.
Lots of fighters have fought for world titles with less than 20 pro bouts under their belt (and not just in modern times). And if they're good enough, what's wrong with that? Boxers with a huge amateur background sometimes don't need 20+ fights, before challenging for a pro title. Rigo, Loma, Usyk, Bivol were all ready long before that. And even without a long, spectacular amateur career behind him, Inoue is today one of the best fighters in the world - after only 17 pro fights! I think a boxer's ability, rather than the numbers, is what we should focus on.
I'd favor Joe Louis over many larger fighters, he never had a problem beating the sluggers he had problems against fleet footed outfighters like Billy Conn. I'd actually favor Louis to beat some of the slower heavies today like jarrel Miller, David price or povetkin by k.o. Not sure how he would do against the elite modern heavies but Louis had the arsenal, killer instincts and cordination to give any man hell in the ring, y'all forget Joe was a giant killer.
I haven’t. But judging by that goofy picture of yours I’m sure you can point me in the right direction.
oh so you still think joe could beat fury and Anthony and I dont care how I look to a man so dumb comment just like the other stuff you said and how could I help you go to a mental home when im not mental you crazy person your the one saying bull not me
Like many here I sure miss the morlocks As well as anubis and mcvey I know of 14 year olds who have more sports and boxing sense than too many posters here
For those of us, who have actually seen some of these fighters fight in person, it has. For guys who think size, films, and modern "nutrition" are the end alls, no it hasn't.
Ah the legendary days of mcvey and Mendoza. Things won't be the same. I would like to reopen this buddy Baer paradox if anyone wants to take a stab at it.
