He did put in an effort befitting of an elite fighter in fairness to him but I've seen him badly hurt on many occasions in the amateurs. Don't know if his chin will hold up to the pros . He will be fun to watch though, that's for certain.
Ragan vs. Batyrgazyev and Khyzhniak vs. Marcial is a very compelling doubleheader, but on the other hand I don't want to not sleep two nights in a row and the Friday card (late Thursday night for us in the west) has Davis vs. Bachkov, Gadzhimagomedov vs. JLC Cruz and Garside vs. A. Cruz, so..for me that is the one. I'll stay up late tomorrow night, but not tonight.
The dominance of the sport's glamour division by the tiny island of Great Britain with its minuscule population what with us owning all four of the belts and all, and Joyce holds the British, Commonwealth and he did hold the European last year but I'm not sure if he relinquished it or not though, isn't just confined to the pros because we're a serious force in the real man-sized division in the amateurs too Fair enough AJ didn't deserve his medal but that's balanced out by the fact that Big Joe Joyce was robbed of gold against Yoka This content is protected
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/15777657/ben-whittaker-silver-podium-olympic-final/ BOXER Ben Whittaker was so devastated with his Olympic final loss he refused to wear his silver medal on the podium. The brilliantly talented light-heavyweight lit up the Games in Tokyo with his eye-catching and slick back-foot style. But he was unable to overcome the final hurdle in his long journey to Olympic gold as he was outpointed by Cuban Arlen Lopez. Lopez, who won gold at Rio 2016 at middleweight, beat the Brit on a split-decision. And Whittaker, 24, was left heartbroken after defeat, so much so that he could not even bare celebrate his runner up prize, putting it in his pocket. He told the BBC: "You don't win silver, you lose gold. I'm very disappointed with myself. I didn't perform good. “I am very disappointed. I feel like a failure. He was very good but you are in this game to win gold, not silver. "This feeling will stick with me now. I don't want this feeling again."
That's kind of a relief actually. I noticed his salty behavior and pouting during the medal ceremony. If he was deluding himself that he got robbed or something, or just exhibiting sour grapes and poor sportsmanship to rain on López's parade and muck up the moment by frowning in all those group pics and not holding up the silver, that would make him trash. If he was just being depressed and hard on himself, though, far more understandable.
Kellie Harrington is such an incredibly sharp boxer but my lord did she almost cost herself a spot in the final by being hesitant with her output. Good performance to just nick it every round but it was incredibly close and the cards reflect that.
The thicc Brazilian doing a good job. Fluid and naturally balanced style. But if the Finn stuck to her bread and butter stiff 1-2 she could have made this closer. She swinging wildly here and walking into to much.
