The gigs defo up for haye...bodies done. Still think bellew and hearn knew full well the extent of hayes injuries when signing that first fight. He pretty much showed you cant really fight with injuries to that extent even in an exhibition. Bellew could have finished that second fight when he wanted and yet he,d never have went in the ring with haye in his prime...dont think i,m believing the whole i always would have had his number chat.
Haye robbed us of the fights against Fury, dropped out of another 2 fights with injuries. Then turned up crippled for both Bellew fights and mugged us off because it was PPV. I think most people dont want to see him hobbling and limping around the ring again, even if it is just for a glorified sparring session with another old timer.
The Bellew fights were a perfect demonstration of how dodgy boxing is. Those events were a con from the beginning. Everyone involved, from the fighters to the promoters to the TV company were in on it. They all knew Haye was shot to pieces.
Both pissing themselves laughing after the pressers congratulating each other on a job well done - the PPV Mugths had no idea. It was all planned 3 months before Haye went to see his 'mate' fighting Bellew. Those PPV mugths are so thick having been poked many times yet still hand over the loot.
I can't remember who was active at the time and how they were rated but I always thought O'Neil Bell would have been a tough fight for Haye. Adamek was probably the biggest fight at Crusier USS would have made a fun fight as well Obviosley he earn't a lot more going up to heavy but when you hear or read he's the best Cruiser after Evander based on being a unified champion after beating Mormeck (a good win away from home) and Enzo (1 top class win really) I think that's being a bit generous. Haye was good, very good but he didn't always take the hardest path.
I think he would have beaten those 3 mate. All good cruiserweights, but I think he would have had a decent chance to stop them too. That part of his career seems so long ago now.
Good post. I think he beats them, but I don't think he's better than Usyk @ CW, and I also think had he been in his prime in that division 2-4 years ago he'd have picked up a loss or two as the division was so strong.
Fighters just can't leave the ring alone. Thing is, the exhibition is easy money. At the end of the day, they need to earn a living. No man can begrudge that. It's what they know best. But I think it is more than money, they just can't stay away from the limelight. I mean e.g. does Mayweather really need to do exhibitions for money? Is it greed? Or addition to the limelight/game?
I like David Haye. Haye was a cracking cruiser whoever thinks he wasn’t is using his heavy career against him, Enzo victory was a glorious night. He still won a Heavyweight championship and deserves all the props for that. Can’t blame him for taking a shot at Wlad, why wouldn’t he ? Was worth the risk for him. He is also a decent man, done a lot for people behind the scenes and had his share of failures away from boxing which ruined him financially. He’s a decent commentator, done wonders managing and training with Chisora and made him money he probably didn’t deserve. Did a lot for boxing did David, when we didn’t have a lot going on. Still haven’t forgiven him for the Bellend loses myself though, horrible times for us all, and wouldn’t be surprised to see him in a exbo - maybe with Evander in some weird best of the best Cruiser battle.
I think you've hit the nail on the head here. I haven't forgiven him for losing to Bellew either and I know it's weird to hold on to such a thing but when he had a chance to do boxing a favour, he miserably failed twice and then off the back of that, he cosied up to Bellew and the Matchroom gang and became fake mates with them all, just to make the whole thing even more nauseating than it already was. These things cannot be forgiven in my opinion.
