Usyk has no chance with his size and style against AJ. This is heavyweight, he will get knocked out within 5 rounds.
Survive the first 3 rounds, if you can do that, dictate the pace, and gradually wear him down. Use you're stamina and constant pressure.
Chris Byrd wasn't getting knocked out in 5 rounds when he was the IBF champ and no. 1 rated HW by Ring. He was naturally smaller than Usyk and not as good either.. What's going on there?
usyk just needs to fight his fight to beat aj and avoid being cought. i see no scenario with aj winning this unless he catches him with a big shot that usyk cant recover from.
Do what you always do. Definitely be sure to hurt AJ late when he's tired. Similar to the Hunter Bout.
If Usyk hurts AJ early and gets his respect, AJ may try fighing the way he did in the 2nd Ruiz fight. Bad idea for AJ. I can see AJ getting beat from pillar to post in this fight. Usyk has more options than AJ. AJ will not come out and attack. He can't afford to put in that much effort and fail to get Usyk outta there. His tank will be depleted by 3. Not good. AJ can't outbox Usyk. The only option for AJ, is to be ready to capitalize off the mistakes Usyk makes, and work behind the jab.
I’d have him use the jab like crazy to set up in and out combinations and a lot of movement to try and avoid AJ setting up power shots and make him move his larger body around more and slow it down. I’d have him also hit him in the kidney and hip area during clinches, and use a lot of feints to have AJ expend more energy with the anticipation of certain punches. Usyk has a lot to overcome but it’s not impossible as he has faced much larger men before. You have to make those larger guys move and work a lot and slow them down.
This. Hit and run. 10/10 cardio attack. Exhaust him. Don't clinch as it will cost you more energy than it does him. When he gasses, KHTFO or lose.
Go down to the canvas with AJ's first punch. That will lull the body builder into a false sense of security. Then land ANYTHING on his chin or ear, and Bob's your uncle. In case you're wondering, this is called the "Ruiz Plan". Worked once before. And DO NOT take more than three punches with your hands up covering your face; that's an automatic Brit Stoppage scenario.
''Just to put it into perspective we had over 50,000 people in the queue trying to get tickets. The data will show that we could've sold over 200,000 tickets for this fight. Incredible demand!'' --Eddie Hearn This content is protected
Usyk is a globetrotting road warrior par excellence superstar who has packed out arenas in the UK (the home of boxing), Russia, Germany, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, and the US. He's selling out arenas and stadiums all over the shop Timestamped This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
Head movement, lateral movement, feints, jab the living **** out of AJs near eye and body alternately. Fighting in the pocket or inside is a no-no, ambush-style combos from time to time during the lulls to sway judges followed by some expert and disciplined smothering/clinching. I don't think Usyk will win but if he makes AJs eye close, the optics start to look great for him.
He's not selling anything. UK - Chisora sold the tickets. Russia - Gassiev sold the tickets. Germany - Huck sold the tickets. Latvia - Briedis sold the tickets. Poland - Glowacki sold the tickets. US fights weren't sold out. I live in a country bordering Latvia and I can guarantee you that no one has no idea who Usyk is. They knew during the build up and shortly after the Briedis fight, but everyone has forgotten now. Boxing is not a cross over sport anymore. Canelo is not Ronaldo and Joshua is not Messi. 990 out of 1000 will have no idea who Canelo is outside of Mexico and 990 out of 1000 would have no idea who Joshua is outside of UK. Boxing is not a mainstream sport nowadays.
