DiBella must be delighted with Jalolov's success at the Olympics then, it's turned him from just another novice to a prospect that everyone will now be interested in. Much easier to promote some unknown boxer if he can be billed as Olympic gold medalist.
He is in a strict need of a solid rear uppercut that way he can shadow realm shorter guys who try to throw punches by changing levels or come inside with their head down,he's susceptible to shorter opponents looping punches to the head.
I don’t think he’ll do all that well. He’s easy to hit and is very open to counters, extremely limited punch variety ( all he really has is a left straight), stamina is questionable.
Great power, better handspeed than you'd think, very good mobility. Yes, he's an upright fighter - but I think wagging your head your around at the higher weight classes is more a bug than a feature, anyhow. He's pretty basic at the moment - but that can be addressed. I've only seen him hurt/shaken twice - but both times he's come back to dish out greater hurt to his opponent in short-order. Very encouraging. I think he's got a ceiling that could take him all the way to ATG. Will he get there? I'm not confident of that. I don't think a tie-in with DiBella is useful for him. KO'ing washed-up guys like Chris Arreola or Gerald Washington might help "build his brand" in N. America but it will prepare him very little for folks like AJ or Tyson Fury or Hrgovic. With who-knows-how-many-delays to be had for the 3rd Wilder-Fury fight (and both those guys could keep a psychiatrist scribbling nodes & prescriptions for days) - most useufl prospects that guys like Jalolov could fight have gone back to protecting their zeros in the hopes of landing a volumtary defense once that madness straightens itself out or Tyson Fury runs off to join the circus. If guys like Hrgovic and Dychko are having mere difficulties getting good fights - you can multiply that by 10x for Jalolov now.
I was modestly impressed by Bakhodir Jalolov at the Olympics, but not overly so. He did what was expected in winning the gold, but think he's been better. Clarke was carrying cuts from his previous bouts and the smaller Torrez really troubled Jalolov at times. Out of those options in the poll, I picked Jalolov as maybe being a One-belt titlist. He's pretty good obviously, he'll be well-known and as a touted gold medalist, he can get opportunities to be successful, but don't know long-term. Will need to see more of him in the next year or so post-Olympics. Imo, I'd be cautiously optimistic of his prospects and so I could see Jalolov as somewhat successful, maybe being a champ at some stage if things go well, but not sure he'll be a dominant HW champ or ATG.
