The head of the Association of Boxing Commissions is holding the WBA's feet to the fire in regards to investigating the Fox/Maestre fight and in regards to their numerous titles. Full article below but the main gist is if they don't clean up their act and soon then the WBA will no longer be allowed to operate within the United States. I'd like to think this is not a bluff, but who knows with these mutual backscratchers? https://sports.yahoo.com/boxing-com...-threats-not-to-sanction-belts-011130383.html
They were already the worst but it’s like they made a pact with Al Haymon for every PBC card have at least one WBA Interim Title fight.
Nothing will come of this. These crooks are now offering 3-4 champions per division. If anyone really cared, there would be no chance to clean up their act, they would just be banned from the states.
The oldest of the current sanctioning bodies has fallen so far they have been put on double secret probation by Dean Wormer. I hope he revokes their charter if they don't straighten their **** out. They were suppose to unify all their titles starting like 2 years ago, instead they've added more champions to each division, it's disgusting at this point where their titles have no real value. Really hope the ABC follows thru here.
Fox vs Maestre was what got them going? What about everything else? Did the entire ABC just come out of a coma?
A American fighter was robbed on American soil by a foreign fighter, so of course outrage. It's complete bull**** that this is the reason the hammer might finally be brought down, but I'll take it despite how embarrassing the reason might be.
I didn't know the association of boxing commissions was a thing. Where have they been for the past decade?
There are 5 WBA world HW "champions" The actual champ (Joshua) Regular nonense (Bryan) Other regular nonsense (Charr) Gold nonsense (Helenius) Interim nonsense (Dubois) I think Hunter might have also got something for beating an inactive CW journeyman. Any maybe they gave Christopher Lovejoy something out of charity. WBA is possibly the worst organisation in any sport ever.
You have no sense of humour!!...reminds me of the Latin American tin-pot regimes with 500 generals in their army, 400 colonels and only 300 privates! For what its worth, the WBA is supposed to be 'the' sanctioning body, being the successor to the old NBA. Maybe someone could start a thread on how the NBA/WBA was 'captured' from American control to the Latin control....its both equally hysterical and ridiculous.
There is also the Intercontinental champion Arslan Iallyev Continental champion Agit Kabayel International champion Zhan Kossobutskiy So there we have 8 titles in one division. There is no way the WBA will in practice reduce the number of champions. They promised to reduce the number of champions 2 years ago and now we have more plastic champions than ever.
