Bad decision, simply because if a fight is stopped due to an accidental headbutt before 4 rounds have elapsed then it's an NC.

    Everything else is utterly irrelevant.

What's funny is that your statement "if a fight is stopped due to an accidental headbutt before 4 rounds have elapsed then it's an NC" is the one that is utterly irrlevant. The fight was not stopped due to an unintentional foul; the fight was stopped because Rahman quit on his stool between rounds.

If the appeal don't change the outcome to a no-contest, the steroid test will do it.

    quote from the doctor

“I gave a recommendation to the referee that the fight should be stopped,” Wallace admitted. “The commission makes their own decisions. I make the medical ones.”

No it wasn't. Didn't you actually listen to what Lennon said? The official ring announcement was that the referee stopped the fight on the recommendation of the doctor, not that Rahman quit or retired or was unable to answer the bell.

Whether or not it's your opinion that Rahman quit (and I agree that he was trying to weasel his way into a NC once it became apparent he might lose), the fact remains that the official ring announcement says it was stopped on the doctor's recommendation.

I'm not quite sure what you are arguing here. The fight was ruled a TKO because Rahman wasn't able to continue. Whether it was the doctor himself, or the ref himself, or the ref in consultation with the doc, or the doc in consultation with the ref that made that determation seems irrelevent to the end result--that Toney won by TKO because Rahman was unable to continue.

This is official. Doc said Rahman was unable to continue. Doc did not medically conclude Rahman's inability to continue was because of a physical impairment suffered in the bout. Doc then surmises that Rahman's inability to continue the fight was not of a medical or physical nature. Therefore Toney wins by TKO.

Good call.... Any fighter that wants to continue would not tell a the ringside doc that he cant see... He said it twice... He was being a wimp in my opinion, im glad Toney got the win.
