That's true Pharoah, both showed they have something left and can produce an exciting fight, which will bring more demand for a 3rd fight than there was for this one. Still, not at all ideal for either guy. Now they wait 6 months for an average payday while their aging bodies deteriorate, an exciting 12-rounder could have brought the winner a TV title eliminator, the loser would still get ESPN fights as a gatekeeper if nothing else. The weakness of the current HW division is in their favour, the longer the delay the more competitive it will likely become. A date with the Valuev-Ruiz winner may have been up for grabs, I love Toney's chances against either. I hope this wasn't Toney's last spirited effort, Rock can be counted on to show up in decent shape and throw lots of punches, however ineffective they are, while Toney's motivation and training discipline is unpredictable. He looked ready for a flashback performance.

Nope - if it's a NC everybody who bet on a specific victor loses their money; the people who bet on Rahman and the people who bet on Toney. You bet on them to win. If there's a draw or a NC, neither guy wins. You have the option to not bet on either contestant. Betting on one, is betting on one to win (not to "not lose"). That's how I've always done it. :good
That is the thing though even in the post fight interview the doctor said he did not stop the fight ... he gave a recommendation and the decision was up to the referee.
thats incorrect..,NC means no fight..,how can everyone lose when you dont have a NC to bet on??? NC=all monies or vcash returned!!! DAN LAW
IF YA HAVE the tape go watch it..,he waved it off..,but he did say that he didnt stop it.., i always go by what i seen not by what happens or is sais after//. DAN LAW
yea you pretty much summed it up, with the exception that since the doc did not examine the eye and chose to recommend the stoppage based on his questioning of Rahman, then technically that IS his examinatin, and therefore it should definately be a NC (or No Decision, whatever). Considering the circumstances of what happened in the ring, a NC is the only proper decision.
You are incorrent. The ringside doctor is, well, an actual doctor. Doctors (physicians) do not come to medical conclusions soleby based on answers to probing questions posed to their patients. That isn't how that field of medicine works at all. The fact is the doctor failed to perform even the slightest of what is medically necessary when conductin a physical diagnosis of a sports related injury. Because of such during the post-fight interview the doctor was adamant in saying that "Rahman's cut was never inspected (diagnosed)" by him, so concluding that the fight was stopped by the Doc due to Rahman's cut is quite false since the Doctor has made it clear that he didn't inspect it. He cannot make a medical judgment on an injury he hasn't even diagnosed. In other words, the doc cannot tell the ref or say himself "i will stop this bout becuz this fighter cannot continue due to a severe cut that may pose a health hazzard if this fighter continues" without first inspecting said cut (which requires physical examination [that's what we have ringside docs for, to conduct physical stuff)!
This was just written up over at The Sweet Science: http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/6067/james-toney-forces-hasim-rahman-quit/ Rahman told the ringside doctor I cant see three times and This content is protected , said referee Corona who stopped the fight. Top Ranks Todd DuBoef the company promoting Rahman said that it should have been ruled a no contest. But This content is protected Poor old Has-been. He'll always have South Africa. I love that the link to the Sweet Science ends in "rahman-quit." That's exactly what he did and he just got TKO'd.
