Aren’t ATG lists pretty pointless?

That’s true. Way more fights but I guarantee the guys they’re fighting would be known as cans today lol

It's difficult to compare any fighter, current, P4P, all time, etc.
First of all, if you think SRR, Ali, Tyson, Pacquiao, Mayweather or whoever is the best NO ONE is going to convince you otherwise. Not ever going to happen. It's stupid to even debate it, but that won't stop the keyboard warriors from their little spats.

Boxing used to be a big deal in sports. It isn't now and is a borderline joke with Youtubers taking over. Because of this there aren't many big names. This gives the misconception that the old school fighters were WAY better because people knew them, so therefore they must be good. The average person couldn't name you 4 fighters today.

Everyone has their own version of a fighters resume. Vernon Forrest lost twice to Mayorga, but beat Mosley twice. Mosley beat Mayorga. Who of those fighters do you consider the best? You also have to say WHEN did X fighter beat Y fighter and what stage of their career did they fight? People have their own versions of that too, as in the Pac/Cotto/Mayweather scenario.

It's an opinion which everyone has a right to. You may not agree with others but you aren't going to change their mind no matter what "facts" you produce. ATG/P4P and just "the best" in general are just excuses to keyboard fight.

Truthfully, having discovered MMA this year, I think boxing itself is pretty pointless these days. WHAT is the point of boxing as a sport that isn't satisfied and improved upon by MMA? The MMA athlete is with no rational interpretation of language differing a VASTLY more sophisticated sport with far more elements of fighting, which is what sport combat attempts to do while maintaining its integrity as an actual sustainable sport. Boxing is an obsolete relic of the past and trying to rank how great they are as fighters is just dumb. The greatest boxer is just not good at fighting compared to even fairly low tier MMA champions. The forum should just adapt and invert itself so all the boxing forums are compacted into one oldies forum and the rest are MMA gen pop, MMA classic, MMA Brit (?), MMA training, etc.
