Ugas is proven at 147 and looked awesome v Manny, Taylor has never had to deal with a lead hand like that.
Hmm, good fight. I hope Taylor stays at 140 for a while. Maybe he can get that fight with the other 140 pound champ Tank Davis. Hahaha.
Taylor bashed both Ugas and Shawn Porter up in the gym when he was a mere 7-0 novice. This content is protected
Ugas out-boxed Porter and got robbed, you`re not suppossed to batter people in sparring, it`s just practise and proves nothing.
And Taylor beat them both up when he was still only a baby Dog house rules over in the US and Jockochenko moseyed on over there and showed them who the big dog was.
I think this would be a very interesting match up - Ugas has a very tight and slick defence, but his workrate is generally on the low side. Taylors tempo and mid-inside work, especially the body would be interesting to see if Ugas could nullify it. Whilst I appreciate sparring is anecdotal and not much can be gleaned from it vis-a-vis a real fight, the fact Ugas remembers a fairly green Taylor as a "terrible memory" says a lot. I'd still prefer to see Taylor fight a couple of tune ups @147 to see how he beds in there rather than going straight for the big dogs, but not sure that's in Taylors nature - he has an innate self-belief it seems - but I think going staight to 147 even against Ugas (let alone Spence / Crawford) would be ill-advised.
I like Taylor but I just don't think he's got the explosiveness to trouble the top guys at 147 Taylor Ugas could look similar to Mikey Spence but much much closer
Taylor is amazing at 140lb but at 147lb, he's done nothing. So I have to favour the champ Ugas. It would be a tight, tight fight.
