Title proper, lineal etc. This content is protected That's pretty much how you do it isn't it astonishingly naive really, just fast-handed two-bladed attack until the other guy gets bowled over, do it three times, win the title. Any thoughts about the first KD? Weird, wasn't it? Shame about Pongsaklek. Only retired last year. No flyweight champ staged more defences - but so many of them were soft (though by no means all of them). Wonder if he'd taken on the world just how savage the reign could have been.
For the first knockdown he seemed to go down under the onslaught but seemed okay. But then he collapsed like he was done... but then got up again like he'd suddenly changed his mind about just laying down and being counted out. He looked like he'd had enough after the second knockdown as well. I thought the ref was waving it off when Tunacao walked towards the corner. He might as well have quit though as the end was very much nigh at that point.
Wonjongkam was like a smoking gun in there! Someone I have to watch more footage of. It seemed Tunaco was stunned after the first KD, but could've recovered. Instead, he was overwhelmed. The left hand that set up the last knockdown / KO was a beautiful shot.
4 minutes of footage on the longest reigning lineal champion in the lifetime of this board and nobody else wants to chip in? Bit of a worry.
Pong caught a couple of fighters cold like that. It is a well known tradition (or perhaps tactic) in Thailand that the challenger will be introduced and left standing in the ring for quite some time whilst other presentations and announcements are made. Meanwhile the local fighter is still in his dressing room keeping warm.
The first knockdown was a hard one. He didnt seem to be too hurt though. The second knockdown, he is clearly discouraged... I always think about what may be going through their mind at times like these. "Oh sh*t, what am I doing wrong, how do I adjust?, how can I adjust with this guy up my a$$?, oh I just accidentally made eye contact with my wife who is sobbing and in terror for me which now makes it worse..." Or maybe none of those things and Im just a regular dummy who doesnt think like a champ would under pressure.... Anyway Pongsaklek's left hand did all the heavy lifting until the final knockdown when he lands 2 or 3 back to back. Good high level scrap.
This isn't the first time Pong smashed a dude like this. Check out his fights with Naito and Lazarte. This content is protected This content is protected
