Joe Smith vs Umar Salamov is set for October 30th

Good fight, Salamov is owed this shot and he's a good fighter. Could present similar problems to Vlasov.

 

At this point I just want to see guys get in the ring. Maybe the better matchups will happen Q1 2022. And there are some good fights upcoming the next two months.

 

Smith wants to push Joe Smith as the next *big* thing at LHW. He is American and will more seats in stadiums than Russians. Plus he is younger so has more mileage left in him.

Oh...and Beterbiev would knock him into next week so why kill the (potential) cash cow?

 

Salamov sounds like either a disease or a pizza topping.

 

Oh come on, Joe has earned a fight like this. Let him defend his title once before getting thrown in with Beterbiev, the guy has paid his dues.

I think it's different now mate. I alway's liked the first up 'voluntary' defence because back then, if I a guy won a belt, you knew he had beaten somebody very good to get it and that after his 'softer touch' first title defense, the next fight would be harder. Now, we don't have that faith, I don't trust the promoter, fighter or org that the next so called title defence will be any better. It's not really that bad a fight, I like Smith and he's improved but in reality if Salamov was american this would be an NABF type level contest.

 

He's a decent pro, euro title level if boxing lived in the real world but still a decent test for Smith.

 

Good to see Smith jr back in action.

 

I hope the Jacobs fight never happens and we can get a unification quickly.
