Id say that Welter Weight could defiantly use WBSS tournament Crawford Ugas Spence Thurman Porter Ortiz Jr Boots Taylor (If he moves up)
Maybe all divisions if ccccoke Kalle might make this with decent purses. There they at least fight like in ams, 1/4?, 1/2 and finals. Might be cool if some US and UK promotions too had tournaments like WBSS. Otherwise we do have so long talks during x or xx months before fights.
Everyone loves these tournaments. It's so much better knowing who the next opponent is immediately instead of waiting 3 months to be disappointed. It would be cool to have one for prospects, maybe even one for comebacks too since there have been so many lately.
Yeah, it might be cool to have couple with such tournaments. Better if some promotions in US, U.K, europe and eurasia too did such kind of tournaments, idea from Kalle and co was very good stuff. Otherwise not likely Usyk had been undisputed in CW today and a lot of other boxers had not been enough noticed. Even the same Tabiti from U.S: does not looks that he had interested big media in U.S while with WBSS he had get opportunity to fight for IBF World Title and to get chance to be finalist for Ali Trophy if he had won fight vs Juniel Dorticos. It is nice idea to make tournament format here in pro boxing. Otherwise we see stuff that happens today. Boring and too predictable boxing matchups in top levels.
Usyk became the biggest CW star since Holyfield and Taylor isn't the biggest star but he got to go on a run and become undisputed. Those two guys absolutely could have spent their whole career getting ducked otherwise. It will give the winner leverage to go into negotiations with whichever fighter was supposedly too good to be a part of it, or possibly the division passes them by.
I agree and most likely cos these fighters with fame and leverage are BUMS who need things like: home town officiating and judgement, to cherry pick opponents, to use catchweight clauses and bunches with other shenganians, like short camps for opponents. Also moving up and down, up and down in weight classes and cherry pick comfortable opponents. These are " best fighters with fame and leverage " = in reality BUMS with belts. BUMS. With fanbase= idiots.
As many Divisions as possible. Nearly of these have been highly successful and fan favorites. Both CWs were great as was the jr. Welterweight. Its a good way to sell the sport as well.
The welterweight and heavyweight divisions need them the most. The heavyweight division super series i'd be most interested in seeing tbh.
In a perfect word who would you throw in at heavyweight. Personally I don't see the point of heavyweight tournament as it's almost completely unified already. Don't get me wrong I'd watch it 100%
