Curious what the last 14 years of historical research (and 14 more years in which to arrange fixes in current bouts) have done for this question.
got to be at least 20% not always fixed as in said paid fighter takes a Dive, but fixed in negotiations that strongly favour one fighter over the other, i.e Ring Size - SRL, LaLonde. Also, judges and/or Refs paid or incentives insured for scoring a fight or stopping it at an opportune moment, again favouring one fighter over the other. Boxing is sadly littered with such practices.
To me official conditions doens't count when it comes to a fix. 3 KD-Rule, glove size, ring size etc...but a not entirely impartial referee or judge is. I say: with all dirty tricks to manipluate a fight it should be ~10-15%! I mean with all the variants of manipulation: Use alcohol, drugs and women to keep the boxer from focus. Manipulated gloves and drug tests. Bribed corner men to coach poorly during the fight, provide poor care...bribed crew members to sabotage procedures like travel, training, food, sleep and regeneration. I guess sometimes it's the sum of the small things to turn a 40/60 to a 60/40 or a 50/50 to a 75/25. To me most of the Wlad fights were kinda semi fixed because of all the refs allowing him to jab and grab, holding, pushing down and leaning on smaller opponents, stiff arm sometimes...it was terrible to see how he managed to avoid a fight.
This thread reminds me of three vintage movies, The Harder They Fall (1956) Joe Palooka (1934) and Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956) Years ago no one paid any attention to the underworld fixing fights.
